Junior Hurlers big win over Parnells

November 8, 2018

Olaf’s beat Parnells by 2-12 to 0-08 in the Junior hurling league game at home on Saturday night. The match was rearranged from Sunday to Saturday. Highlight of the game was the outstanding performance of minor hurler Colin Kyne Delaney who had an outstanding game at right half forward and showed a maturity well beyond his years. Playing with a strong wind in their backs Olaf’s were straight into their stride and were well ahead by 1-11 to 0-01 at half time. This was mainly down to the accuracy from placed balls by young Delaney and a goal by Tommy brown. In the second half Parnells started very strongly but the Olaf’s defence stood strong with Eoin Hayes and Terence Carroll  being particularly effective. Olaf’s midfield of Padraic Bermingham and Lorcan MacMahuna were always in control. Also a goal from Olaf’s corner forward Timmie Cooney early in the second half put the game beyond doubt.
