Junior Hurlers defeat St Rynaghs

November 8, 2018

Edenderry’s hurlers continued their fine home form when recording their third win from three games against St Rynagh’s on Tuesday night. Despite losing their two away games to Coolderry and Kilcormac/Kiloughey, the reds still remain on course to reach the knockout stages for the first time in two years.

Edenderry dominated from start to finish and only trailed once during the game, a third minute goal for St Rynagh’s cancelling Cillian Farrell’s point. The reds didn’t panic and further scores from Cillian Farrell(3), Martin Keogh and David Hanlon gave the home side a 0-6 1-0 lead after eight minutes.

St Rynagh’s responded with a point in the eleventh minute to close the gap to two points but Cillian Farrell’s five point of the game along with an Eoghan Kelly point doubled the reds lead to 0-8 1-1.

Rynagh’s would manage two more scores during the first half but Edenderry didn’t relent and scores from David Hanlon, Cillian Farrell and Stephen Murphy deep into first half stoppage time gave Edenderry a comfortable five point lead at the interval.

Half time:
Edenderry 0-11 1-3 St Rynagh’s.

The second half was a much quieter affair with scores proving hard to come by but it was once again Cillian Farrell who opened the scoring in the fourth minute to stretch Edenderry’s lead to six points. Rynagh’s managed their first score of the half in the seventeenth minute but just one minute later it was cancelled out after Cillian Farrell hit his eight of the game.

The reds made a host of changes and two points from Sean Óg Farrell in the twenty fifth and twenty seventh minute, either side of two Ryangh’s points, left the final score at 0-15 1-6.
