Kinvara 2-13……….Beagh 1-10
Manager Thomas Kavanagh will sleep soundly tonight! The Kinvara juniors finally got off their starters blocks this evening in Kinvara pitch with a solid win over neighbours Beagh. After a couple of false starts with games cancelled, the lads were eager for this game and did not fail to disappoint.
Kinvara took an early lead with a good point from Sean Bermingham and then a wonder goal from Ollie Bergin struck the roof of the net. However Beagh slipped back in with a goal from a 21 yard free and a couple of points. Half time 1-7 to 1-5.
Kinvara started the second half brightly and were always a few points to the better. The win was sealed with five minutes left when Ollie Bergin found Niall Bermingham running through and he crashed to the back of the net.
Overall, a highly entertaining match. They played with great passion and spirit, looked fit, strong and energetic. Highlights for me was the first time hurling shown by Eric Keane, while the scores by lively duo Sean Bermingham and Niall Bermingham stood out.
It was good to get a win, and hopefully the lads can now continue.
Finally, it was great to see a good crowd up in the pitch on such a fine evening. Hopefully more can support our local hurling, football and camogie teams, especially in our home matches.
