Juniors faced Everton AFC Cork in very wet conditions..

November 8, 2018

Juniors faced Everton AFC Cork in very wet conditions Sunday morning. We got off to a great start with superb play from Greg O Callaghan and Gavin to put the ball across the box for Jay to tuck it away. The lads kept cool for a few mins but a rush of blood to the head in the backline, saw a ball across our own goal from our left-back which caught the rest of the defence out, seen Evertons striker tuck in away. Shaky start after the goal saw Everton on top. Within 10 mins of there goal, Everton were awarded a penalty for a late tackle in the box. Liam Delaney produced one of the best saves which saw the ball hit the post and go back across the goal where they took another shot from 2 yards out which saw Liam pounce on it and save again. Crosshaven started the second half, pumped and ready to take all 3 points from the game. Great play from Gavin Rogers again saw him set Jay, who turned his man and fired home from 25yards out. The lads remained on top and kept getting chances but unfortunately couldn't put the game to bed. A long ball saw Gavin turn his man in the box and got pulled down. Gavin stepped up and put penalty through the roof of the net. Few changes due to a few knocks and tired legs saw the introduction of Peter and Andy Crosshaven saw themselves back defending towards the end of the game, when a great ball in from Everton was headed home to make it 3 – 2. Few mins later Gavin saw a second yellow for pulling down a player 5 yards outside our box. But up steps Liam again with show stopping saves. The lads fought with loads of heart in the last minutes of the game and took all 3 points back with them. Man of the Match today was Liam Delaney. Outstanding performance by all today. That's sees the lads unbeaten in the last few league games giving them 7 points from 5 games. We face Riverstown in the cup next weekend. Come on the blues
