Mayo Gaels 2-6 Kilmovee 3-3
Our junior team picked up their first point in league at Abbey Park on Sunday morning when they drew with Kilmovee on a score line of 2-6 to 3-3. A great second half performance saw them come from four points down to secure the draw, truth be told they had enough chances in the second half to win two games but their shooting let them down at vital times.
Kilmovee started the much brighter and had two points on the board inside the first six minutes. The Gaels replied very well and took the lead through a fine goal by Kevin Brett and a John Sloyan point from play. Kilmovee dominate the next ten minutes and added two goals a point to leave them four points clear. The Gaels finished the half strongly with a goal from the hard working Damien Quinn to leave the half time score 2-1 to 2-3.
The Gaels totally controlled the second half and one wonders how they only registered five points during the half. They leveled the game inside the first six minutes of the second half through points from play by John Solyan and Noel Quinn after fine work by Mark Adams. The decisive score of the game came after forty three minutes when Kilmovee landed a break away goal to push them three clear. To the Gaels credit they responded well and kicked three points in a row to level the match through Brian Adams, Mark Adams and Damien Quinn.
The Gaels had several chances to grab victory but could not find a golden winner. They face Ballaghadereen away next Saturday.
