Juniors reach Final.

November 7, 2018

Junior B Semi Final Replay.
Ballycumber 1–11 Ferbane 2–5.
This game played in Doon on Saturday never reached the standard of the drawn game, but what it lacked in quality, it more than made up for it in excitement. Ferbane got a dream start with a point from play and a goal from a penalty in the first ten minutes and they added a further point from a free and another goal after a defensive mix up. Ballycumber’s only reply was a pointed free by Lorcan Halligan. Just on the stroke of half time Simon Casey got possession on the thirteen metre line and blasted the ball into the net, to leave the score at half time 2–4 to 1–2. Playing with the difficult wind in the second half Ballycumber dominated the exchanges and kept the scoreboard ticking over with points from Lorcan in the 4th nminute, Andy Grennan in the 13th, Lorcan [free[ in the 15th, Peter Dunne in the 17th, Michael Egan in the 19th, Peter again in the 22nd to leave the score at Ballycumber 1–7 Ferbane 2–2. A very soft free in the 31st minute gave Ferbane heart and they duly got the equaliser in the 33rd minute to force extra time. The first period of added time failed to produce a score and it looked ominous for Ballycumber as they were now facing the wind. The introduction of Dermot Egan and the speedy Gary Larkin worked a treat. Dermot kicked two great points and Gary brought the ferbane defenders on a tour of Doon pitch. Simon Casey benefited from a short rest on the sideline and on his re-introduction Simon scored two more points and Ferbane’s only reply was one point. Ballycumber now look forward to a County Final against fellow parishoners Erin Rovers. Team.
