Junnior Footballers beat Killeigh

November 8, 2018

Edenderry Junior footballers maintained their winning streak with a three point win over Killeigh away from home. Although they didn’t have it as easy as previous wins, they showed a great fighting spirit to come away from Killeigh with two points.

With the aid of the wind in the opening half, Edenderry had the better of the play and had the ball in the net three times from Adrian Mahon and Michael Bryan, while Daniel Nolan scored the third from a penalty after Stephen Murphy was dragged down in the square. Edenderry also had three points on the board in the opening half with Daniel Nolan, Michael Bryan and Adrian Forde splitting the uprights.
Halftime, Edenderry 3-03 Killeigh 0-03.
The second half was a very poor display from ‘The Reds’ against the wind. Killeigh outscored Edenderry by 1-03 to 1 point in the second half. But it was Edenderry’s solitary score in the second half which was the score of the game as Daniel Nolan, Stephen Murphy and Stephen Abbott worked the ball up the field to substitute Shane Steel who sent over a glorious point.

Best for Edenderry on the day were Stephen Murphy, Adrian Mahon, Stephen Abbott, Colin McNamara, John Gorman and Shane Steel. Edenderry’s next game in the league is at home to Ballycumber on Saturday 17th April.
