Under 9’s Show Great Talent

On a beautiful Saturday morning in Pairc Na Bhride we held the first of our east cork league matches with a team consisting of eleven nine year olds of fourteen. We played Carraig Na Bhfearr where the boys played some lovely hurling. They won this match with goals from Michael, Matthew, Brian and Sean. The next game was against Youghal and again the lads proved to strong for our opponents with the midfield of Craig and Kieran playing great hurling Patrick and Cian were clearing everything in the back line. Next up was a good Cloyne team consisting of mostly ten year olds. The lads started well with a great goal from Michael and a goal from Eoin. Brian was making some great saves in goal. However Cloyne came out strong in the second half and despite great effort from Oision and Ben Cloyne won. Well done lads the future is bright with these lads

U11

Bride Rovers 2-5 Carrig Na Bhfearr 1-3

Our U11 had their first Hurling game on Friday the 11th. We only had four 11 yr olds on the night so we were relying on our U10 panel who delivered a great performance. Both teams started the games with wide after wide and hopefully this will improve with more practice. Once again Ben was solid in goal with Ciaran, Adam, Mark and Beineon showing how the back line should perform sending the ball up the field. Dathal, John and Jordan were working hard in the forward line which resulted in Griffin opened the scoring 15 minutes into the game with a point then he continued in the same form sending another set ball over the bar. We were on a roll at this stage and Eoin went on to get a goal. Carrig did score a point in the first half.

We started the 2nd half well with Patrick scoring a pt, Shane a goal and Conleth a pt. Conor was driving balls into to forwards at every opportunity and Brian scored a pt. Dean was unlucky not to score a goal as the Carrig goaly brought off an outstanding save. Carrig scored a goal and 2 pts in the 2nd half. Well done lads

Bride Rovers 3-2 St Catherines 3-2

This game was played on Monday night once more relying on our 10 yr olds to field a team.  It was a tough game not for the faint hearted. Ben brought off some excellent saves in goal and was helped by Shane, John and Conor in the back line. We were pushing forward at every opportunity and Patrick scored a point. Conleth took an excellent line ball and with a touch from Eoin this was sent to the back of the net. Catherines then came on the attack scoring a goal and 2 points. Before half time Adam scored a point from a free. All square at half time

Catherines went on the attack early in the second half but excellent defending from Ciaran held them scoreless for a period of time but they eventually got through for a goal. Brian, Jordan and Beineon were blocking and chasing every ball while Dathal and Mark were working tirelessly in the forward line. Conleth once more took a line ball which he passed to Griffin a shot from far out went all the way to the back of the net a great goal and well deserved. Dean was introduced and once more showed great determination as he attacked every ball. Conleth was unlucky not to score as his shot came off the upright. Catherines were pushing forward and despite some great defending from our back they scored a goal. We were awarded a free which Adam stepped up to take and once more he sent it to the net. The match ended all square. Well done to all the boys.
