U8’s contest another hurling blitz
Our U8’s travelled to Lisgoold on Saturday 19th for a hurling blitz. The other teams represented were Lisgoold, Fr O’Neills and Aghada. We had two teams, one with the older boys and one with the younger boys. Both teams played their equivalent group from Lisgoold in the first game. As with all the games we played against Lisgoold these proved to be two great games. We came out on top in the older game but our younger boys, a number of whom were on their first outing, were overpowered by the Lisgoold boys.
We then played Fr O’Neills. This was the first time we’ve met the boys from Ballymacoda at this age, but this didn’t put our boys off. Both our teams got off to great starts, with the younger team going ahead from a superb goal from Ronan O’Connell from a free. However, the younger team from Fr O’Neills go the better of our boys in the end, while our older boys kept their lead throughout the game.
Our last games were against the Aghada teams.
These proved again to be a tough opposition in both games. We led at half time in the older game, but in the second half the game changed completely for us, from an attacking game to a completely defensive game, resulting in Aghada coming away with a double victory over the boys from Rathcormac.
Well done to all the boys who played on the day, in particular the new boys, and thank you to Lisgoold for running such a successful event.
The players representing Bride Rovers were: Kieran Kearney, Eoghan O’Sullivan, Oisin Roche, Jack Ryan, Craig O’Callaghan, Rian Pegler, Dylan O’Leary, Darragh O’Sullivan, Cormac Finn, Adam Walsh, Shaun Knox, Ronan O’Connell, Michael Quinlan, Seamus Aherne, Tomas Macak, Fionn McAuliffe, Evan Murphy, Mathew Quinn, Tiernan McAllister, Gearoid White, Tiernan McCarthy, Edmund Cashman, Evan Buckley, Joseph O’Brien Whitmarsh, Eoghan O’Leary,

U13’s show great character
At half time we were way behind but it was nice to see some of the younger lads were able to hold their heads up and as the second half started we began to make some goals and points of our own to make the score line a little more respectable. By the final whistle the score line was Bride Rovers 4-4 Wathergrasshill 7-11. The club would like to wish Watergrasshill good luck as they progress to the next round of the championship..
