Juvenile Club notes for the week ahead.

November 8, 2018

Our under 14-football team picked up their first league points with a win over St. Catherine’s recently. This followed heavy defeats to Eirns Owen in the league and Ballinagree in the Feile. St. Catherine’s started very well with 2 early goals. We improved as the half wore on and were 5 points ahead at half time. We played much better in the 2nd half and passed the ball around well and took some good scores. All the lads played well on the night. The team was: Cian O’Connor, Colm Howard, Tadgh O’Sullivan, Jack O’Connor, Cillian Kearney, William Finnegan, DJ Cahill, Jake Tobin, Shane Walsh, Jordan Service, Dean Lenihan, Darren Moore, Jack Fitzgerald, James Barry, Shane O’Connor, Jack O’Mahony, Jessie Barry O’Keefe.

Our under 14 hurling team were defeated by Newmarket in the Feile and Kiltog in the league. We held our annual Puck Fada on Easter Monday in Bartlemy with the proceeds going to charity. The 16 teams that took part enjoyed themselves and had refreshments in the hall afterwards. I would like to thank everyone who donated prizes for the raffle or who helped on the day, especially John Arnold and the Bartlemy hall Committee for the use of the hall.

U12 Football

Bride Rovers 7-8 Cloyne 2-2

Our U12 footballers were in action again on Monday 19th against Cloyne. A tough game but a fantastic performance from the lads. Mark in goal on the night was rock solid  A quick goal from Jordan S got us on the score sheet early followed by a point from Adam and I can only give credit to all the forwards for the second goal as the ball went in and out of the net so many times it was impossible to say who scored. Cloyne fought back and scored a goal even though our backs were solid. DJ fielding some great balls and the 2 Shanes were driving out with the ball. Beineon and Brian were defending well stopping any possible attacks. We once again went on the attack with Leon getting a point and John pushing forward from half back to get a great goal. Dathal was putting in a great performance and as we were approaching half time Dylan put us firmly in the lead with 2 points. Cloyne did attack and scored a point before half time.

We started the second half well with Adam scoring 1-2 and Dylan 1-0. Cloyne didn’t give up the battle and got through for a point. Conleth and Griffin were both unlucky not to get on the score sheet the woodwork keeping them out. Jessie was working tirelessly and scored a point. All our subs were introduced with Jordan M having to be extremely tough as the tackles were coming hard and fast. Eoin and James joined the back line and showed some super flashes of skill. Cloyne did get another goal but we were the stronger team on the night. Dylan scored another 2-1 but to be fair one of those should be credited to his brother Dean who gave him a superb pass.

Panel: Mark Connolly, Shane O’Flynn, DJ Cahill, Beineon Whitmarsh, Brian Roche, Shane O’Connor, John O’Sullivan, Leon O’Flynn, Jordan Service, Conleth Ryan, Dylan Browne, Adam O’Sullivan, Griffin O’Sullivan, Jessie O’Keeffe, Dathal Kent, Jordan Mannix, Eoin Roche, Dean Browne, James Buckley

Busy week for U10 boys

Bride Rovers 3-4 Kilta Og 3-4

Bride Rovers 4-3 Nemo Rangers 2-3

In the Decky Guckian league we played 2 games in the past week. First on Tuesday the 20th we travelled to Castlemartyr to play Kilta Og. It was a good hard test for the boys. Without getting to the heights of previous games we got a well deserved draw against a good Kilta Og team. Well done boys. That set us up nicely for the game against Nemo, knowing a draw would be good enough to progress to the next stage of this prestigious competition. We started well with everyone giving their all in a tough game, with a lot of hard hits coming in the lads stood up and answered back with scores on the board. Well done lads. We progress to play Sars and Cobh in the next phase details will follow soon.

Panel for both games was Ben Hogan, Ciaran Nugent, John O’Sullivan, Jordan Mannix, Conor Barry, Brian Roche, Patrick O’Flynn, Conleth Ryan, Griffin O’Sullivan, Kieran Kearney, Shaun Knox, Eoin Roche, Seamus Ahern, Cian Hogan, Craig O’Callaghan , Peter O’Leary, Joe Twomey, Matthew Quinn, Dean Browne, Jack Ryan, Michael Quinlan, Luc Martin

Get well soon to Beineon who is out of action through
