Kells pip Moylagh at the death

November 7, 2018

A strong Kells outfit overcame a spirited fightback from understrength Moylagh on tuesday night.

Moylagh shaded a keenly contested first half and despite missing a few easy chances went in at the change of ends leading by 4 to 3.
Gaeil Colmcille upped the ante in the second half and seemed to have killed the game off with two goals in the third quarter to leave them 6 ahead with 12 minutes left. The introduction of former Meath panelist Paddy McCormack sparked a Moylagh comeback with himself netting a fine individual effort and straight after setting up Mick Corrigan for the equalising goal after great work from John Martin and Colm Fanning. The Kells men pulled 2 clear again before Joe Melia fisted a Shane Brody centre to the net putting the hosts ahead with time running out. However Gaeil Colmcille would not be denied and two late points saw them scrape home for a deserved one point victory
