SCOIL MHUIRE  NS NOTES.

Under 11 (C) Hurling
Scoil Mhuire Knockavilla travelled to the Ragg last Friday 8th of June to play Ardcroney in the Co. Final of the U/11 (C) hurling. Though the game was played in very wet conditions, there was great support for the team at the match. Aaron Browne opened the scoring in this exciting match with a spectacular point for Knockavilla NS . One could only but marvel at the industry, determination, team work and talent of this Knockavilla team. That they overcame a team with just as many of these qualities in defeating a wonderful Ardcroney side, is testament to their amazing spirit. A Devon Ryan goal midway through the first half offered them some early breathing space. Joe Fitzgerald completed the scoring for Knockavilla in the first half with a well taken point. A Matthew Spain goal on the resumption gave Ardcroney some brief cause for optimism only for Knockavilla to respond with a barrage of scores from Aaron Browne and Barry McCarthy to seal  a famous victory for the men from the west. The final score was Knockavilla NS 2-06 Ardcroney NS 1-00. For Knockavilla, Cormac Ryan was a rock in defence while up front Aaron Browne will no doubt receive all the much deserved plaudits that come his way as he finished the game with a personal tally of 1-04.
Well done to all involved, great scenes of jubilation followed immediately after the game and back at the school afterwards. Team: 1. Alan Butler, 2. Lorcan Carr, 3. Hugo Bourke, 4. Cormac Ryan, 5. Devon Ryan, 6.Stephen Browne, 7. Aaron Browne, 8. Joe Fitzgerald, 9. Barry McCarthy, 10. Ben Ryan. School Principal: Eleanor O’ Dwyer. Coaches: Kevin Moran, Joanne Collins, Michael Shanahan.
