KNOCKAVILLA COMMUNITY COUNCIL NOTES;

Over the last 15 years the Community Council has embarked on an ambitious project of renovating the Community Hall in Knockavilla, ensuring that the parish has a facility which could be used for all the organisation’s in the parish.The hall was re- roofed, while the interior was plastered and painted, and the toilets and the kitchen area were all re tiled. A full set of new windows and oors were also installed. The electrical wiring in the hall was also upgraded.

All this work was completed and paid for out of grants and income which the council secured over the years.The final parts of the works now needed, is to install a new heating system to replace the original system which has operated in the hall for the last 30years. We also hope to purchase new chairs to replace the stock currently in the hall. After this work is done, and the proposed
re painting of the interior and exterior of the hall, we will be able to offer a modern comfortable hall for any organisation or family in the parish that wishes to use the facility.

There’s not a family in the parish that hasn’t availed of the hall’s facilities either as a child or an adult. With the children’s discos, or the dance classes, taekwondo classes, table quizzes, Santa visits, magic shows, medal presentation nights, etc, it is easy to see how vital it is to have a hall in the parish which can be used for all ages.

The first of these projects will get under way in the next few weeks, and hopefully all works will be finished by the year end.

Church Gate Collection.

The Community Council will hold a church gate collection in both churches on the weekend of 16th/17th June. We would also ask anyone interested in helping with this project, or who may have any ideas or suggestions to please contact any Council member.
