DAFFODIL DAY 2012
The Irish Cancer Society “Daffodil Day” will take place on Friday 23rd March.

€2,025 was raised in this area last year and we thank you for your generosity.

As in previous years, we are appealing for collectors for the day. We really do need more helpers. A little time goes a long way! Funds are needed now more than ever to continue the marvellous work undertaken by the hospice teams. Please support in any way that you can. For further information please contact Kay on 087-7999279.
This year I would like to remember one of our most valued supporters, Philomena Grene, of Grene Park , Dundrum.  Philomena sadly passed away on the 31st of October last year. May she rest in peace.  Each and every year for the past 24, I would return home, on the eve of daffodil day, to buckets of fresh daffodils outside my door.  Even when Philomena was unable to be out and about she always had someone else willing to carry on the tradition for her and the flowers have never failed to be there for me.
Philomena was, for many years, an active member of Tipperary & District Flower & Garden Club and had many winning entries in the annual Tipperary Show. Philomena will be greatly missed by all
her friends. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a ainm dilís.

KNOCKAVILLA COMMUNITY COUNCIL NOTES.

Quiz.
Schools Quiz

Our annual primary schools table quiz which was held in the Community Centre on Friday last was a great success with 37 tables taking part. This was our biggest attendance to date and we thank all the teacher’s pupils and parents for their participation. We also thank the council members and anyone who helped make the night so enjoyable for all. The winners of the Community Council Shield for 3rd & 4th classes was the  Upperchurch team  and the winners of the Michael Breen Perpetual Trophy for 5th and 6th classes was the team from Scoil Mhuire Knockavilla  with Scoil Bhride Donasakeigh and Upperchurch in a tie for second just one point behind. The winning team members were, Quentin Thompson, Lauren Horgan, Lorcan O Meara and Joe Griffey. Quentin is the Grandson of the Late Michael Breen in whose memory the cup is presented and Lorcan is a grand nephew, so there was great excitement when the final results were known. Well done to all.
