DAFFODIL DAY 2012

The Irish Cancer Society “Daffodil Day” will take place on Friday 23rd March.

€2,025 was raised in this area last year and we thank you for your generosity.

As in previous years, we are appealing for collectors for the day. We really do need more helpers. A little time goes a long way! Funds are needed now more than ever to continue the marvellous work undertaken by the hospice teams. Please support in any way that you can. For further information please contact Kay on 087-7999279.
This year I would like to remember one of our most valued supporters, Philomena Grene, of Grene Park , Dundrum.  Philomena sadly passed away on the 31st of October last year. May she rest in peace.  Each and every year for the past 24, I would return home, on the eve of daffodil day, to buckets of fresh daffodils outside my door.  Even when Philomena was unable to be out and about she always had someone else willing to carry on the tradition for her and the flowers have never failed to be there for me.
Philomena was, for many years, an active member of Tipperary & District Flower & Garden Club and had many winning entries in the annual Tipperary Show. Philomena will be greatly missed by all
her friends. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a ainm dilís.

KNOCKAVILLA COMMUNITY COUNCIL NOTES.

Quiz.

The Annual primary schools table quiz will this year take place in the Community Hall Knockavilla on friday night February 24th at 7.30pm. As with previous years, the two categories will be pupils from 3rd and 4th class which will compete for the Community Council shield, while pupils from 5th and 6th class will compete for the Michael Breen perpetual trophy.
This table quiz has attracted a huge amount of entrants from all the schools in the area, and it goes from strength to strength in it`s popularity. We look forward to the usual strong support from our local schools, and the committee would encourage parents to ensure their children have their teams sorted before the night. Teams of 4 is still only 12 euro. Refreshments will be available to any parents who wish to remain in the hall while the quiz goes ahead.

KNOCKAVILLA DONASKEIGH YOUTH CLUB

Youth club will not be going ahead on Fri the 24th as previously arranged as table quiz is on that evening in the Community hall. We will be back the 9th of March. New members and volunteers remain welcome.
