Best of luck Fergal.

Best of luck to clubman and  Referee Fergal Horgan and his umpires when they take to the field for the West senior hurling final between Clonoulty/ Rossmore and Cappawhite which will be played in Dundrum on Sunday next.

 Senior hurling.

Our senior hurlers put up a great effort against Thurles Sarsfields  in the Co.Championship game which was played in the Ragg on Saturday last. However we could not keep up the intensity against what are recognised as one of the top club teams in the country with several Senior county stars and were beaten on the score 6-21 to 1-12. We are now into the O’Rian cup and are drawn to play Borrisokane in Templederry on Saturday next at 7pm. We are now in to what are basically cup finals if you win you are safe if not you are into the semi finals for the relegation final , so please come out in force on Saturday night and get behind your team and your Parish.

Junior (A) Hurling

Kickhams had a deserved but hard fought victory over Rockwell in this game in Cappawhite on Sunday last. This contest had a bit of bite to it from the start and it boiled over on a number of occasions but this did not detract from the quality hurling that both sides displayed. The half time score was Kickhams 1-7 to Rockwell 1-6 and the second half was eagerly anticipated. However it was the Kickhams who started the brighter and were in a commanding lead after 10 minutes, a lead they never looked like losing. And despite the efforts of the Rockwell lads to rein them in the Kickhams were just too strong on the day and were the winners on the score 3-16 to 2-10. Kickhams team and scorers : Damian Hayes, John O’Brien, John Mc Cormack, David Shanahan,
Rory Heffernan, Rory O’Dwyer(Capt), Shane Heelan(0-1), Niall O’Brien(0-3,0-1 free), James Shanahan, Noel O’Brien (0-1), Aidan Heney (0-1), Fergal Horgan (3-8,1-4 frees), Conor Horan, Kevin Farrell (0-1), Brendan Farrell (0-1).

Camogie notes.

The Knockavilla/Donaskeigh Kickhams Camogie Club held their annual Moira Cahill Memorial Blitz in Pairc Ui Ciocaim in Dundrum on Saturday 23rd July last. The parade started at 11am and led through the village by a Piper, our up & coming stars of the future held the banner with pride. After a welcoming speech from Chairman Kieran Slattery, the games began.

There were two groups this year with U-10’s and U-14’s. Overall, ten clubs participated on the day. Annacarty, Eire Og Nenagh, Drom/Inch, Ballina, Holycross, Cashel, Moycarkey, New Inn , Lorrha and Knockavilla/Donaskeigh.

It was Drom/Inch vs Holycross in the final of the U-14’s competition and the winners were Drom/Inch who got to take home the Moira Cahill Memorial Cup.

The last game of the day was our own U-10’s vs Annacarty. A superb display of skill and ability from both teams had the supporters on edge. Even after extra time played twice in the summer heat, it was decided that the fairest and only option was to declare the match a draw. There aren’t enough words in the dictionary to describe the pride the club has for all our young players. They were fantastic! Let’s hope that we’ll see plenty more exciting games from them in the future.

Sincere thanks to all who helped out and attended the blitz. A donation from the proceeds of the tearoom will be made to the South Tipperary Hospice.
Many thanks also to our sponsors, Quirkes Garage, Premier Vets Clinic, P.P. O’Dwyers, Alleys Nurseries and Butlers Centra.

Best of luck Ereena.

The club wants to wish the best of luck to Ereena Fryday who will play with Tipperary ‘s U-18’s next weekend in the All-Ireland final.

Dundrum Tidy Towns.
Well done to all who are giving of their time and effort  to have Dundrum village and its environs looking so well . The combination of Dundrum  Tidy towns, Station Road Residents Assoc and our local Fas workers can hold their heads high at the results of their labours. We hope that all those who live in  or visit the village will respect the works that have been carried out . The judging of the tidy towns is underway throughout the country at the moment  so it is important that  the village looks its very best  in the coming weeks and months.
