Sympathies
Knockavilla Donaskeigh Kickham GAA club offer their deepest sympathies to the family of Paddy Ryan (Hurley) Ballinamona Knockavilla who died on Monday the 14th of February . Paddy was born on 2nd of September 1926. He took an early interest in his local Kickhams GAA club. He won his first medal as part of the clubs 1944 minor hurling team that won the West Tipperary Championship , This was followed by junior hurling divisional medals in 1948, 1950, 1951, and 1952, and senior hurling in 1955. After his playing career was over he took an active part in the development of  Pairc Ui Ciocam in the late fifties and early sixties. He was also a selector on various club teams between 1971 and 1986. As a tribute to his long involvement in the promotion of  Gaelic games Paddy  was honoured with a Shean Gael award in 2009, this meant so much to him. He continued to be a loyal club supporter up to his recent illness and always took a keen interest in the up and coming talent in the club.He passed his love of the GAA onto the nextgeneration and his nephew Paul O’Neill became Chairman of the Cappawhite club, The West Tipperary Board and Tipperary County Board. As a mark of respect to Paddy and the extended Ryan family, the club
afforded a guard of honour at the arrival of his remains at Knockavilla Church on Tuesday evening; all club activities on Monday
and Tuesday nights were deferred as a further mark of respect to Paddy. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam. We also remember in our prayers

Pat O’Brien of Old Mill Ballintemple who died on  Sunday the 13th of February after a long illness bravely borne. We offer our condolences to his wife Peggy and family on their sad loss.
The death occurred on Friday the 11th of February of Kathleen Kinsella of Ballyduff Camolin Co. Wexford, Kathleen was the mother of Jim Kinsella Bishopswood and we extend our sympathies to Jim, Bridie and family at this sad time.

Knockavilla/ Donaskeigh Kickhams Camogie Club Notes.

Player Registration

The club is holding its player registration night this Friday February 25th in the clubrooms from 7.30pm to 8.30pm.  Anyone wishing to play Camogie this year is asked to attend to ensure that everyone is properly registered and insured. This invitation is for players of all ages, and especially any newcomers to the club. Refreshments will be served, and we ask that at least one parent would accompany all juveniles to confirm date of birth etc. The cost of registration/insurance is €10 for juvenile and €20 for adult. Camogie club gear will also be available on the night.

Fixtures.

With all county club fixtures now in place, the junior league starts on March 26th & the u14 and U16 championship is due to start in early April. Unfortunately, at the moment we still do not have any managers in place for these teams. The girls on all these teams have given so much over the years and deserve to continue playing the game for their benefit, and the benefit of the club. Hopefully, some parents will come forward to commit to these teams, and, whoever does, can be assured of the full support of the club officers for the year.

Congrats girls

The club is honoured to have two of its players currently training with the County Intermediate panel. In last weekends drawn game against Limerick, both Ereena Fryday & Niamh Slattery lined out for Tipperary. We wish them the best of luck for the year. Tipperary prepare to play Cork this weekend in the second round in a Tipp venue.

A timely reminder also, that the club will hold their annual cake sale again this year after all masses on St. Patrick’s day, 16th & 17th March. Last year’s event was a tremendous success, so all support would be welcome.

GUN CLUB NOTES

Though this years pheasant shooting season has been extended until the end of February, Dundrum Gun club has decided that in the interest of birds which have already come through a very harsh Winter that there will be no Pheasant shooting on any of the club preserves during this time. We would ask all members, non members and in particular Landowners to please take note. We are in the process of restocking with adult Cock and Hen pheasants and will be releasing same around the Club area in early March as well as releasing pheasant poults later in the summer. In the last number of years we have spent over 4,000 euro in restocking programmes with Mallard and pheasant releases and we hope to continue the same in the coming years. We thank landowners for their continued support and would urge them to be aware of  who is shooting their lands, Gun club members are all fully insured under the NARGC compensation fund for personal accident and third party cover. Gun club signs are available free to any Landowner who wishes to erect same, contact any officer for details.
