Senior Hurling.
Our senior hurlers put up a good display for much of their match against Moycarkey Borris in the O’Rian Cup Final in Semple Stadium on Sunday last but tired in the last few minutes to allow the mid men add more points on the board which gave a different slant on the final score and did not do justice to the closeness of the game overall. We thank the lads and management for their efforts during the year. See match report in local papers.

Juvenile Club Notes.
Tommy Kelly Tournament.
Weather permitting the Tommy Kelly Memorial Tournament will be played off in the field on Saturday next the 22nd of October from 11.00am. This years U/10 and U/12 teams will be taking part.
The U/8 boys welcomed Arravale Rovers to Kickham Park last Saturday morning. We had two teams challenging them in both hurling and football. They showed great skill in both matches with the Kickham Boys coming out on top. After a very busy year, Kickhams U8 hurling panel will finish up their outdoor activity when they compete in the last County Board U8 hurling blitz to be held in Dr. Morris Park this saturday morning. Then, on saturday night, in Knockavilla Hall at 8pm a plaque presentation to all the panel members will be made, to acknowledge the superb effort made by all players during the year. U/12.
Our U/12 girls travelled to Gortnahoe on Saturday to take on Ballingarry in the Co. Semi-Final. Our girls started very strongly putting pressure on the Ballingarry goal but failing to register until they scored a great goal. Our defence was herioc again keeping out a strong Ballingarry attack but conceded a goal after much pressure. A point from a 35m free left us a point up at half-time. The second half started like the first with strong play from both teams. Our girls had chances but were unlucky not to score. The Ballingarry girls had the breeze in this half and had a purple patch scoring a goal and a point. Kickhams pressed hard and had a few close calls but failed to add scores and breech the Ballingarry defence. Final score Ballingarry 2-01 Kickhams 1-01. Special thanks to Margaret and Claire for their great work during the year. They would like to thank the parents and supporters during the year but especially the girls for their effort and honesty in training and in matches and the enjoyment of it all. Let’s hope that all the girls will continue to play again next year. WELL DONE GIRLS.

Knockavilla N.S. Notes
All parents of children in Knockavilla National School are invited to attend a meeting on the establishment of ‘Knockavilla National School Parents Association’ in the School on Tuesday next the 25th of October at 7.30pm.
Our Lady’s Sodality.
The monthly meeting of our Lady’s Sodality will be held on Monday next the 24th of October. Mass in Knockavilla Church at 7.30pm all are welcome.
Craft Fair.
Dundrum Craft Group will hold their annual craft and food fair in the Scout Hall Dundrum on Sunday the 30th of October. This event which has gone from strength to strength since its inception promises to live up to its reputation once again. This year we will have an even greater variety of fare on offer. The regulars will still be there like the Child Art competition which always turns up great talent. This year’s theme is “Autumn Fruits”. The Hospice Stall will once again take centre stage and we are again looking for donations of Cakes, buns and all sorts of confectionary, all which will be sold to help raise funds for this very necessary service in our community.
As far as the exhibitor stalls go there are still a few places left. The qualifying criteria for anyone wishing to exhibit are, the stalls must only contain Irish products, food or services produced or provided by the exhibitor themselves. Badminton.
Badminton continues for the winter months in the Scout Centre Dundrum every Monday and Thursday night until May. It’s a great way to have fun, meet new friends and keep fit at the same time.
So come along on Monday and Thursday nights from 8pm. All are welcome
