SALE OF WORK/FIREWOOD AUCTION.

Knockavilla Donaskeigh Kickhams will hold their annual Sale of work/ Wheel of Fortune and Firewood auction on Sunday the 30th

November.

As with every other year we are asking landowners or anyone with access to firewood to please donate some trailer loads if at

 all possible. We are willing to cut any unwanted firewood if you cannot do so yourself. Please contact Tony Farrell @

Mgt Hayes 087-2775971  The Kickhams firewood auction with its tractor and car trailer loads of quality hard wood, all blocked

 and split is a great fundraiser for the club and along with the Sale of work and Wheel of Fortune has contributed greatly

to reducing the outstanding balance of the financial debt owed by the club. A debt that was necessarily accrued during the

development works that included the purchase of lands from Coillte Teo to develop a new field as well as the works that were

carried out on the entire property, New spectator Stand, Dressing rooms, Perimeter fencing, hurling wall and much more all

to ensure that the playing and meeting facilities at Kickham Park in Dundrum are of the highest quality and are being enjoyed

 and appreciated by all within the entire club, including Juvenile, Camogie as well as the Senior section of the

Knockavilla Donaskeigh Kickham GAA Club. So in the coming weeks we will be holding meetings to organize the various events on

the day and we would appeal to all involved in or with an interest in Gaelic games in our Parish to please come along, get

involved with your club and help our native games to continue to proper in our Parish and community.

PRIZES FOR WHEEL OF FORTUNE.

We would appreciate any donations for The wheel of fortune, biscuits, sweets, hampers, farm produce, drinks, shrubs, toys,

tools any unwanted gifts in good condition which can be used as prizes on the wheel, All donations can be left into Scout

Hall on Sat 29th Nov or Sun morning 30th

Also we would appreciate items of baking for the cake sale, cakes, breads, tarts, buns, flans, scones, swiss roll's,

pavlova's cheesecakes or any other confectionery, Baking donations can be dropped to Scout hall Sunday morning or given to

any committee member,

As with all fundraising it is the volunteers that make it a success, the club wishes to thank you for your help in previous

years and hopes it will continue this year,

 

RAFFLE TICKETS.

Our annual fundraising tickets raffle will take place at the Sale of work on Sunday the 30th of November. There are great

prizes including a 32” television as first prize and a number of cash and spot prize as well. We would ask all members to

please collect some tickets from the club officers and help make this another success.

KNOCKAVILLA COMMUNITY COUNCIL

TABLE TENNIS

The table tennis nights have proven very popular with everyone. On Tuesday nights from 7pm to 8pm children age 10 to 14years

are invited to come along to Knockavilla hall to play. On Thursday nights, anyone aged from 15 to 99 are welcome to take part

from 8pm to 9pm. €1 per person. We now have 3 tables on the go, so plenty of games for everyone.

 

CONCERT

We will be holding a fundraising Christmas concert in Knockavilla hall on Friday December 5th, when Tipperary Gospel choir will

perform all the favourites of the season. Tickets will go on sale for this show shortly, and as the seating capacity in the hall

is limited, it is advisable to book or purchase your tickets from any council member as soon as possible. We will hopefully have

some performances from some of our local talent also. Tickets cost €10.

SANTA

On Saturday December 6th, Santa will make his annual trip to Knockavilla to switch on the Christmas tree lights, followed by a

free magic show for all the children in Knockavilla hall, courtesy of Knockavilla Community Council.

KICKHAM JUVENILE GAA.

MEDAL PRESENTATION.

On Sunday evening Nov 23rd, the Kickhams Juvenile club held their annual presentation ceremony of medals and cups to the many

juvenile players from under 6's and 8's up to under 16's, in both hurling and football. The function was held in Dundrum House

Hotel and the Tipperary senior hurling full forward and current All Star, Seamie Callinan was the guest of honour invited to

do the presentations. Many thanks to him for his time and enthusiasm. Thanks also to Dundrum House Hotel for the use of the

function room and the food.

 

JUVENILE AGM.

 The Annual General Meeting of the Kickhams Juvenile club will be held in the clubrooms on Wednesday night December 3rd at

8pm. Nominations are sought for manager positions from under 6 up to under 16 and for officer positions of chairman,

secretary, child protection officer and committee members. Please submit the nominations to the secretary, John Hadnett or

any juvenile club officer by this Friday November 28th.

 

KICKHAMS CAMOGIE

CALENDAR.

 A Kickham’s Camogie Calendar celebrating four decades of camogie in the parish has been compiled and will be available for

sale at the Kickhams Sale of Work on Sunday next November 30th. Calendars are €10 each and will make a great keepsake.

MEDALS PRESENTATION.

 We had a medals presentation on Sunday evening last in Dundrum House Hotel in conjunction with the Juvenile Club. We were

delighted so many were available to receive their hard earned medals and we look forward to the season ahead. Well done

and congratulations to all the girls involved and all the mentors, selectors, club officers and parents on what was a

very successful year.

CONGRATULATIONS.

 We would also like to congratulate Donaskeigh NS U/11 Girls who won the County Cumman na mBunscoil Final on Thursday

of last week. Well done girls!!

 

SCOIL MHUIRE KNOCKAVILLA NOTES

CONGRATS TO ALL

Congratulations to the 3rd and 4th Class pupils in Knockavilla NS, and their Class Teacher Ms. Quinlan, who have won the

Co Tipperary Libraries ‘Spooky Tales’ Competition. Their winning book was produced to a very high standard. The presentation

of their prize will be made in the near future.Well done also to Maggie Butler in 6th Class who was a prize winner in the

Cashel Lions Club Peace Poster Competition, and to Sarah Quinn 5th Class whose picture was a prize winner in the recent

Tipperary Credit Union Art Competition.Ms Flynn’s class took part in the ‘Real Life Science Programme’ in October.

Their entertaining video clip can be viewed on YouTube – just type in ‘The best Babysitters, Scoil Mhuire’. We are all very

proud of Shane Buckley, 3rd Class who won the Munster Cross Country competition in Ennis recently. Well done to Shane and

the local Dundrum Athletic Club.

 

CONCERN PRESENTATION

Last Tuesday, Ciara O’ Carroll from Concern, visited the school to accept a cheque for € 325 which was raised before the

mid-term break when the pupils in 6th Class organised a cake sale to raise funds to help the victims of the Ebola crisis

in western Africa. Ciara paid tribute to the pupils and teachers in Scoil Mhuire who have raised thousands of euro for

Concern over the past number of years. On Thursday next, November 27th the pupils in 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th Classes will

take part in their annual Concern Fast.

FUNDRAISING CONCERT.

Pupils from Mr Moran’s and Ms O Dwyer’s classes will take part in the Community Council’s fundraising concert in the

Community Hall, Knockavilla on Friday December 5th.

SENIORS CHRISTMAS PARTY.

The annual senior citizens Christmas party will be held on Sunday the 7th of December in Dundrum House Hotel @ 1.00pm.

The Parishes of Knockavilla/ Donaskeigh, Annacarty/Donohill and Cappawhite are all coming together for the occasion.

This event is always a great day out for all the seniors in our community. So come along and start the Christmas

celebrations early.

 

MARL BOG C.E. SCHEME.

AGM.

The AGM of the Marl Bog Community Employment Scheme will take place in the Scout/Community Hall Dundrum on this Thursday

the 27th November @ 7.30pm.

MUSIC EVENING.

St. Mary’s Church Dundrum and Dundrum Tidy Towns invite you all to a special evening of music on this  Friday the 28th of

November at 8pm in St Mary’s Church. Featuring performances from Derek Ryan, Mary Rose McNally, Herbertstown Comhaltas,

Michelle Ryan, Maura O’Brien and friends. Tickets cost 10 euros and are available from local retailers.
