KNOCKAVILLA COMMUNITY COUNCIL.
TABLE TENNIS
The Community council are organising table tennis nights (or ping pong if you're posh) for children and adults. Tuesday
nights, from 6pm til 8pm will be dedicated to children from age 10 upwards. Lessons on how to play and leagues will be
organised, and Thursday night's will facilitate any adults who wish to compete in a parish league. We will have two tables
up and running from the start, and hopefully if there is enough interest we can get 3 tables going. We hope to be started
by mid-October. A minimal charge of 1euro per night will apply to all participants.
CHURCH GATE COLLECTION
Thank you to all who supported our collection last weekend, funds raised will go to maintaining the community centre.
SCOIL MHUIRE KNOCKAVILLA NOTES
PARENTS ASSOC AGM
Parent Association Knockavilla National School (Scoil Mhuire) would like to invite all parents/guardians of children
attending the school to our Parent Association Annual General Meeting. It will be on Wednesday 15th October in the National
School from 8pm to 9pm approx. Refreshments will be served. Your attendance would be appreciated.
CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR PAST PUPILS
Well done to all Scoil Mhuire’s past pupils on their great results in the Leaving Cert and in the Junior Cert. We are all
very proud of you and wish you the very best in the future.
VISIT TO CAPPAMURRA BOG
The pupils in 5th and 6th Classes, together with their teachers, went on a field trip to Cappamurra Bog during September.
It was a great visit to this magical place of natural beauty on our own doorstep. We plan to follow-up on the trip in our
art workshops with Caoimhín from the National Gallery of Ireland, who will be coming to Scoil Mhuire in the coming weeks.
COUNTY TIPPERARY SCHOOLS CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS
Congratulations to all the pupils in 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th Classes who took part in the Schools’ County Cross Country
Championships in Thurles on Wednesday Oct 1st. Following their training schedule in school, every pupil completed the
course – no mean feat when one considers the distances of 800m and 1000m! Once again we witnessed some wonderful individual
and team performances from our students. Shane Buckley, 3rd Class ran a fantastic race and won a gold medal in his category. Ben Loughman, 6th Class won a bronze medal in his category for the second year in a row. Our Senior Boys’ Team won a silver team medal with Ben Loughman, Reuben Bourke, Jack Breen and David Carroll leading in the team.
Many thanks to all who helped-out on the day, especially our very enthusiastic teachers and snas. Thanks also to John Moore
and Dundrum Athletic Club for their support and help. Well done to Emby Walshe and the County Tipperary Athletic Association
for the wonderful work they do in organising this great event.
