KICKHAM CAMOGIE NOTES

COUNTY U/12 (A) CHAMPIONS

Our U12s were crowned County (A) Champions when they defeated Toomevara in a tense and engaging battle in The Ragg on Saturday afternoon last.

Toomevara were favourites for the title as they had been defeated in last years final and had shown good form throughout the league. Kickhams had

won the C competition last year but this is only their first year at the top grade.

Kickhams began well and Eimear Heffernan opened the scoring with a pointed free. Toomevara responded to level the scores.  A battle of wills ensued,

neither side giving an inch.

With the teams all square on a point a piece at the half way point, Kickhams had it all to do. They were more than equal to the challenge and on

the restart, put Toomevara under sustained pressure. Finally the break through came when a free from Eimear Heffernan which was sent in high

deceived the Toomevara goalie before finding the back of the net.

Kickhams pushed on, with the aid of a very solid defence who managed to hold Toomevara scoreless throughout the half. Kickhams sealed their hard

earned and well deserved victory with another pointed free from Eimear Heffernan. This truly was a team effort with each and every one of them

giving their all.

The Kickhams team and panel on the day were as follows; Ellie Hadnett, Leonie Farrell,  Megan McCormack, Sinead Furlong, Caoimhe McCarthy (capt),

Sarah Mae Crosse,  Chloe Farrell, Eimear Heffernan, Caoimhe McCormack, Mary Louise O’Rourke, Rebecca Farrell and Sinead Hayes. Subs Holly

Fitzgerald, Cameron Verdon, Anisha O’Donoghue, Emma Ryan, Clara Walsh, Eimear Gleeson, Emma Hogan and Savannah Greene.
