SYMPATHY:
The officers and membership of Knockavilla Donaskeigh Kickham GAA Club offers their deepest sympathies to the family of
Paddy O’ Dwyer late of Tipperary Town and formerly Curraghpoor Donaskeigh who died on the 8th of May. Paddy was 93 years
of age and in his youth back in Curraghpoor he and his childhood friends had a great love and passion for Gaelic games and
in particular hurling with Donaskeigh and the Kickhams. Those that remembered him playing described him as a skilful but
strong defender that could always be depended on to give his all for his team. He was an integral part of the Donaskeigh
hurling team that won the West Junior hurling title in 1941.He was also selected on West senior divisional teams that
competed in the interdivisional Miller shield competition and he also won Crosco Cups in the early 40s. As a mark of
respect to Paddy and the extended O’Dwyer Family, The club provided a guard of honour as his coffin, draped with the Kickham
flag, was brought to St Michael’s church in Tipperary Town. Paddy was one of nature’s gentlemen and will be sadly missed by
his family and his friends and acquaintances in the Parish of Knockavilla Donaskeigh. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dilis.
KICKAM JUVENILE GAA NOTES..
U/16 FOOTBALL:
Kickhams Under 16's defeated Golden on Saturday last to qualify for the Under 16 B West football final, due to be played
earlier this week, after compilation of this note. A victory would be most welcome for a very dedicated bunch of players
and team management.
U/12 FOOTBALL:
Kickhams Under/12(B) and (C) teams played west finals in football on Sunday evening last in Golden against Eire Og/Annacarty
and Rockwell Rovers respectively. Though both teams tried their very best they were defeated on the night. A great effort
was made by everyone and all those involved deserve great praise.
SPONSORED CYCLE:
The Kickhams Juvenile Club sponsored cycle was held in Dundrum on Sunday last May 11th. The three-in-one event drew a large
and very enthusiastic group of cyclists from far and near and the conditions were near perfect for young and old who enjoyed
the event immensely. It was the second year of this event, which is now envisaged to run on an annual basis for the future.
The club would like to thank the local Raparee Cycling Club in the parish, for their time, effort and support for this event;
it was much appreciated.
