WHITE COLLAR BOXING.
Knockavilla Donaskeigh Kickhams and Clonoulty Rossmore will meet in a novel fun raising event in Dundrum House Hotel on Saturday the 16th of February when 15 of our finest pugilists meet our counterparts from Clonoulty Rossmore in a White collar boxing tournament that is being billed as “ The Bust up in the Ballroom” There will be more details in the coming weeks, but suffice to say that training is really taking off now and both camps are confident of victory on the night. You can get more details on the Kickham Facebook page.

SYMPATHY
The death occurred on the 2nd of January of Joe Mc Grath late of Douglas Co. Cork after a long illness bravely borne. Joe, who was a noted intercounty as well as club coach arrived in the Parish to help train our club senior hurlers in 1997. We had not won a West senior hurling crown in 37 years and though we had come close on a few occasions, it was felt that a fresh approach was needed. Ably assisted by the team management Joe set about turning what was already a talented group of players into a team that could at last win back the west championship. That historic victory over Cappawhite in the final which was played in Leahy Park Cashel on Sunday Sept 21st ensured that the famine was at last over and we all celebrated in Cashel and later that night at the homecoming in Dundrum. Joe’s dedication and commitment to the Kickham club will not be forgotton and he will be sadly missed. We offer our deepest sympathies to Joe’s devoted wife Olga and family on their sad loss Ar dheis De go raibh a anam.

KNOCKAVILLA COMMUNITY COUNCIL
COMMUNITY TEXT ALERT SYSTEM
There has been a fantastic response to the text alert scheme being set up in the parish. Already there are over 200 householders signed up. The once off payment from each householder is €10. Over the next few days, committee members will be calling back to every home collecting the signed form and the contribution fee. We would ask that these would be ready when the members call, this way we can proceed with setting up the data base needed for the text messages. The next public meeting takes place tomorrow, Thursday January 10th at 8pm in Knockavilla hall. Anyone that hasn`t yet singed up, and wishes to do so, please come along to the hall where application forms will be available.
