Sympathies.
The officers and membership of Knockavilla Donaskeigh Kickhams Senior, Juvenile and Camogie Clubs extend their deepest sympathies to Lal Slattery and Family Gurtussa on the unexpected death of her beloved and devoted husband Pat on Wednesday the 29th of August. The Slattery family is steeped in the history of the Kickhams with involvement in all aspects of the club right up to the present day. Pat himself was a proud Kickham man who wore the Black and Amber in his youth. He was part of some of the five in a row West minor hurling winning teams from 1943 to 1947. He was very involved in the early development and maintenance of Pair Ui Ciocam. His love for the Kickhams extended to his own sons and their families, all who have worn the jersey with distinction in hurling football and camogie. This was a great source of pride for Pat and Lal. We further offer our condolences to his sister Josephine (Lavin), the extended Slattery family, relatives, neighbours and friends at this sad time. As a mark of respect to Pat and the Slattery family the Kickham club along with Knockavilla Community Council and Fine Gael, of which Pat was a lifelong member, provided a guard of honour as his remains were received at St Brigids Church Donaskeigh on Friday evening. All club activities were cancelled as a mark of respect. Ar Dheis Dé go raibh a anam.
We also offer our sympathies to Mary Keating and family Knockavilla and the extended Keating and O’Leary Families on the death on Sunday evening of her beloved husband John Keating. May he rest in peace. We also remember in our prayers all those bereaved in the Parish in recent weeks.
We, along with all Premier folk, will be cheering on our tminor team in the All Ireland final in Croke Park on Sunday next. In particular we want to wish our own club man Brian Horgan who is a selector on the minor team and his charges the very best on the day. Ar aghaidh le Tiobraid Árann.
