U10 Trip to Tipp.
An early start for our U.10 hurlers and footballers on Sunday last as they headed out on their very own ‘Trip to Tipp’. The day provided an opportunity to test their skills against Tipperary opposition and then cheer on the Déise boys in the Munster semi-final battle with Clare. First up was a brief pit-stop at the Horse and Jockey and thankfully the early morning sun continued to shine. Our convoy of cars then headed for our host club Moyne-Templetuohy and all were fascinated by the giant whirling wind-turbines that greeted us on the road into the village. The hurling encounter proved a tough challenge for our young players as they struggled to find their touch, but we finished the match strongly against a very skilful local side. We fared better in the football as our greater scoring power proved key; overall result, an honourable draw. Could the Déise boys go one better at Semple Stadium? We Then took time out for some light refreshments and a friendly chat with our gracious hosts and after a brief presentation we were bound for Thurles. The journey to the stadium via the back roads was an experience in itself! Our boys were now decked out in the blue and white and ready to cheer on their team. On entering the stadium a spot of face-painting provided an extra splash of colour and as one mentor was heard to remark, ‘our many cowboys were transformed into Indians’. A Waterford victory was all that was required to cap a memorable day. We were not disappointed as the Déise boys came good in a thrilling finish to qualify for the Munster final. The perfect end then to our ‘Trip to Tipp’ and once again many thanks to Moyne-Templetuohy G.A.A. Club, our parents, supporters, drivers and all who assisted us on a most enjoyable day.
Under 10 Football Blitz Wed 13th at home.We hosted the 2nd night of the under 10 football Tournament at home last Wednesday evening in the sunshine which was a huge contrast to what our under 8’s played in on the previous Monday evening. Our players did us proud, winning all 3 very competitive games. A big thank you to all 5 teams that travelled on the night, and also to the parents who provided and helped with the refreshments. Under 6, 8 & 10 Football TrainingTraining this week Friday 22nd continues as usual.Under 8 Football Blitz.Well done to our under 8’s who took part in a football blitz last Monday night in Kilmacthomas in the pouring rain, but this did not stop our enthusiastic young players from giving it their all. This Wednesday evening the 20th they take part in the 1st night of the under 8 football tournament in Abbeyside at 6.30pm
