MINOR FOOTBALL
Our minor footballers began their championship campaign with an away trip to Cappoquin to face Affane on Sunday morning last. We played with the aid of a strong breeze in the first half and we were on the score sheet early through a point per Ger Hickey and a well taken score from the boot of Kieran Power. We enjoyed a lot of possession in the first period and added a further 4 points without reply through Oscar De Paor, Steven Curran, Mossy Veale and a Power free. Just before half time some sloppy defending left the ball loose on the edge of the Affane square and Ger Hickey popped up to slot the ball to the net from close range leaving us 1-6 to no score up at the break. This lead was cut to 5 points within just 2 minutes of the restart as Affane hit us for a goal and a point and for a time it looked like they could mount a comeback and they were unlucky to see a couple of goal chances come back off the upright at crucial times in the match. We responded well to the pressure as Veale and De Paor pointed to stretch the gap to seven. Willy Brazil then came off the bench and added a brace of frees to put the issue beyond doubt. Credit must go to the home side who never gave in and their efforts were rewarded with goal in the 56th minute. Mossy Veale added a second goal for Kilrossanty after a wonderful individual effort and Brazil kicked a late point to put a gloss on the scoreline. It ended Kilrossanty 2-11 Affane 2-1. Team: Jack Kirwan, Steven Curran(0-1), Adam Daly (Capt), David Coffey, Lee Kay, Phillip Iannotta, Kieran Power (0-2), Oscar De Paor (0-2), Conor Walsh, Michael Murphy, Ger Hickey (1-1), Mossy Veale (1-2), Pa Whyte. Subs: Willy Brazil (0-3) for Walsh, Ryan Kirwan for Whyte, Michael Hassett

Under 16 Football Western Final Div 3.
Under 16 footballers are in action at this Sat 10th March venue to be decided.

Under 14 FootballOur under 14’s took part in their first match of the season on Sunday last at home against St Oliver’s.  The final score was St Oliver’s 3 – 5 to Kilrossanty 1 – 6, not a bad result with just being able to field a team, due to a few injuries and other commitments.  Everyone gave full commitment on the day and if 2 easy goals did not go in, then who knows the outcome.  Well done everyone. Our next outing is away to Ballyduff upper on Sun 18th March @11.30am, we hope to see the full panel on the day.
