Kingscourt Club Notes

November 8, 2018

SENIORS

The Seniors continued the preparation for the champion quarter-final last weekend.  They met a strong Crossmaglen side in Carrickmacross in the final of the Rooney Cup.  With the Armagh Championship about to kick off, the Ulster champions were in an unforgiving mood and our lads were up against from the start.

Despite this they battled to the end but Crossmaglen’s strength in depth was a telling factor and they ran out convincing winners in the end.  However, with four weeks to go before the championship, workouts like this will benefit the team and hopefully they will be fit and ready to play the qualifier winners.

On a separate note, the match report from our championship win has finally made it’s way onto the website.  Apologies for the delay.

JUNIORS

The Juniors host Lacken in their final Div 4 match this Sunday at 12.30pm in the park.  With promotion still a possibility, and the championship just round the corner, this should prove a very entertaining match.  That has now been postponed though!!

The draw for the Junior championship was recently made and Kingscourt will play host to Gowna on Saturday 13th September.

MINORS

The Minors eventually resumed their league campaign with a hard-fought draw away to Cavan Gaels to retain top spot in Division 1.  In a high-scoring encounter, 1-1 in the final few minutes salvaged a highly-credible 3-12 each draw.  A report on this match will be available on the webiste.

They round of the campaign this Friday with a home tie against Killan Gaels at 7pm, but as usual that’s liable to be changed!

CLASSIC CLIPS

Later this week sees the uploading of our 2nd classic match feature.  The 1985 Roinn B U-12 Final victory over Drumalee.  Featuring super scores, unbridled joy, priceless interviews and some future greats (or past as it is now), you won’t be disappointed.
