21st December 2011

HAPPY CHRISTMAS

The Club would like to take this opportunity to wish all its players, members, volunteers and supporters a very Happy Christmas and a Healthy & Happy New Year.  Thanks for all the support and assistance throughout a very successful 2011 and we look forward to a seeing everybody again early in the New Year.

2012 CLUB CALENDAR

The new club calendar is still available.  At just €5 it’s an ideal stocking filler and features full pictures from each club team from 2011 as well as both jubilee teams (1961 Juniors & 1986/87 Seniors) and the picture of the five trophy winning captains from the year just gone.  They are available in various shops around the town.

CHRISTMAS NEWSLETTER

The Club Christmas Newsletter is now available in print as well as online on www.kingscourtstars.ie It features a review on all the trophy winning teams this year as well as the Stars who featured on this year’s Ulster winning Cavan Minor & U-21 teams.  You should be able to pick up a free issue in various shops/pubs  around the town over the Christmas holidays.

MINORS

After their successful opening match in the Northern Bank Ulster Minor Club Championship,  O’Raghallaigh Gaels are back in action at 1.30pm on St. Stephen’s Day up in Belfast.  This time there will be a huge step up in quality as they face Watty Grahams (Derry) in the Semi-Finals, who defeated Monaghan champions, Truagh Gaels, by 25 points in their opening match and also beat St. Eunan’s (Donegal) in the Quarter Finals.

The lads have done fantastic to reach this stage and deserve plenty of support as they try and reach the Ulster final. A bus has been organised to make the trip up to St. Paul’s GAC and leaves town at 10:45am. Seats are €10 for Adults & €5 for U-16’s.

To book your seat, text Angela on 087 7648109 or put your name down with Pat Faulkner.  Go on why not head up, there is only so much turkey, selection boxes and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang you can endure, it will make a change from the normal Stephen’s Day……

DINNER DANCE

After a bit of a break, the club held a Dinner Dance earlier this year to mark the success of the Senior Championship winning team of 2010.  Such was the success of the night, and the various teams this year, we are back for more.  The Club Dinner Dance will now take place in Cabra Castle Hotel on Friday 20th January.

A jam-packed night will see presentations to the Senior, Junior & Minor winning teams for 2011 as well as honouring the recent jubilee teams (1961 Juniors & 1986/87 Seniors) and I am sure plenty of other things on the night. Based on last year alone, a great night is guaranteed. Tickets will be available from all committee members shortly and are €35.

LOTTO

The winning numbers in the Lotto this week were 01, 04, 06 & 16  (Bonus 27). There was no jackpot winner and five Match 3’s winning €40 each. This was the last draw of 2011 and we would like to thank all those who bought, sold and checked tickets throughout the year.

As the club’s only regular fundraising venture it is a vital part of the running of the club. We would encourage any club member, or parent of member , who is not already doing the lotto to please try and contribute to same if at all possible. Direct Debits for just €8 per month can be obtained of Pat Farrelly.

The first draw of next year will see the jackpot reach €11,400 (would help clear a few post-Christmas bills!) and the draw will take place in Gartlans on Monday 2nd January .
