Under 16’s

The under 16’s were away to Gweedore on Tuesday last and had a convincing win in wet and windy conditions. The team captained by Niamh Mc Glinchey were absent some influential players but lead by 2 4 to 2 goals at half time. St. Mary’s came more into the game in the second half and gave an excellent performance to run out convincing winners in the end. Rebecca Prunty, Niamh Mc Glinchey and Fiona Allan were impressive for St. Mary’s.

The next game is at home v Naomh Columba on Tuesday 19th May. There will then be a break and the semi- finals and finals will be organised after the junior cert.

 
Under 14’s
The under14 girls had an impressive win over a determined Glenfin side on Monday evening last in Convoy. This was an excellent St. Marys performance. Team: Caoimhe Browne, Charlene Black, Niamh Woods, Rebecca Prunty, Emer Mc Daid,  Sarah Allan, Alana O’Donnell (captain), Emer Shovelin, Grace Doherty, Ciara Gallagher, Gabrielle Duffy, Victoria Flanagan, Chloe Mc Gee, Nadia Mc Gee, Aine Gallagher, Rachael Friel and Annie Rose Quinn, The next game is away to Robert Emmets on Thursday next.
Other dates for under 14 games are Thursday May 28th, Thursday June 4th, Thursday June 11th, Thursday June 18th and Thursday June 25th.
Training for both teams continues on Saturday morning at 12.15.
 

Seniors

In the second league game of the campaign St Mary’s senior ladies faced a very strong Robert Emmet’s team. In a tightly fought first half Catherine Mailey and Ethna Cranwell were superb for the home side as they took a narrow lead into the break. In the second half St Mary’s started very strongly, the introduction of Brid Mc Connell and Ciara Foy strengthening the forward line. Stephani Friel imposed herself on the game and ran out top scorer with a personal tally of 1-3. Despite a late push from the visitors St Mary’s held on for an excellent victory. Final score: St. Marys 1 8: Robert Emmets 0 7.
The next league game is at home v Lifford this weekend.
The draw for the Junior championship took place at the county board meeting last night. St. Mary’s are at home v St. Nauls in the preliminary round on June 28th. The first round is on 12th July and if we are successful in the preliminary round will meet the winners of Red Hughs v Bundoran. The semifinals will be played on 8th August with the final on 23rd August. Girls please keep these dates free!!!
