Under 12s: Edenderry Ladies GAA Under 12 team played their third championship game on Sunday last April 28th against pre championship favourites St. Rynaghs in Tullamore. Captain Rachel O’Reilly chose to play with the strong breeze in the first half and unlike previous games the Edenderry girls made a very good start to the game and by half time were two points to the good 0-05 to 0-03 aided by the excellent free taking of Rebecca McDonnell. The girls battled bravely in the second half against the elements but in the end it was 2 late goals from St. Rynaghs which separated these two great teams with the final score being 2-06 to 0-06. The girls can be very proud of their efforts and this was by far their best performance this season against a very good St. Rynaghs team. Edenderry had stars all over the field and this gives them great momentum for their final game in the group against Tullamore in two weeks time. Team: Tara Dunne, Aisling Blong, Angela Brady, Lucy O’Neill, Rachel Kelleghan, Niamh Brady, Alicia Kavanagh, Aoibheann McAndrew (0-1), Megan Callan, Rachel O’Reilly (Capt), Rebecca McDonnell (0-4), Stephanie Williams, Jessie Brereton (0-1), Cliodhna Breen, Chloe Monaghan Subs. Under 14s: Edenderry Ladies GAA Under 14 team played the second game of their championship against Naomh Ciaran on Wednesday last April 24th. Naomh Ciaran have dominated this age group over the past few years and are once again hot favourites to come through Offaly as well as being current Feile Champions. Edenderry played all their football in the first half and were leading the game approaching half time following 2 great Lauren Oglesby goals and 2 points each from Sarah Cummins and Chloe Cronin. In the second half the Naomh Ciaran girls showed their class and with Edenderry tiring the game fizzled out and finished with a goal flourish for the opponents. The girls gave their all again and even though they have lost both of their first two games in the group they are not found wanting for effort and commitment.
