Ladies Club Notes

November 8, 2018

In what was a weekend of  activity for all  ladies footballers in the club with our Junior ladies capturing the  junior B county tile  in style on Friday night Two of our junevile teams were in action also but weren’t as lucky as their adult counterparts, but for those supporters that were in Caherlag on Sunday night to watch the u14 East Cork final against our u14 girls and Carrigtwohill it was clear to see that the  even though we didn’t win the future of Bride Rovers ladies football is very promising.Theese girls can hold their heads high after the display of football they gave on Sunday night. We got off to a great start but couldn’t convert the Scores We had four wides in as many minutes and Jennifer was unlucky when a close in free rattled the crossbar. We conceded 3-3 in the first half and only scored 1-1,but the girls came out a different team in the second half and gave it their all .We went from been 11 points down to come back within a point of Carrigtwohill and were so unlucky not to snatch the victory,Aine could do nothing about the goals and had plenty other fine saves on the night .Dayna and Shannon Sheehan were kept on their toes all night but were well up for it.Shannon Mulhall had an absolute storm of a game playing an absolute blinder a true captain leading by example. Our half backs of Lauren Claire and Eva got caught knapping in the first half but more than made up for it in the second half defending supberb.Trish and Rebecca were well tested by the Carrig centerfields and answered the call well especially as the Carrig number 8 was so threatening. Jennifer Cahill lined out in a new position in the number 10 jersey and had a brilliant match bearing down on goal on numerous occasions and scoring 3-2 of our final score. Mary had her best game of football yet this year scoring a great point and Erin is improving with every game she plays ,Chloe did well at full forward getting  two points and was involved in setting up more scores .The saying that size doesn’t count for anything was well proven by our two corner forwards Meg and Katie who both were on fire on the night and  the Carrie corner backs just couldn’t mark them because they were constantly on the move and Katie got a cracker of a goal and Meg a great point .Karen did well when introduced and our three other panel members Carmel Cliona and Margaret didn’t get a run on the night but are just as much a part of this great panel. The final score was Carrig 5-5 Rovers 4-6.We must now play them again in two weeks time in the league final and I have no doubt the girls will be well up for it.
