Ladies Football Club Update

Under 12sOur under 12 team played their quarter final match against Moycarkey in Littleton on Friday evening past. This was a very evenly match game throughout both halves. The St. Patrick’s registered two wides before Eimear Boland scored a point for the first score of the game, which was closely followed up by a well taken goal by Dearbhaile Morrissey. The Moycarkery girls then registered two goals in quick succession. The St. Patrick’s girls battled hard throughout the remainder of the first half, with Eabha Hogan getting a point, which left the half time score: St. Patrick’s 1.2 Moycarkey 2.0. The second half was a likely affair & saw St. Patrick’s getting alot of the possession, which ended in a goal for Eimear Boland & three nicely taken points by Eabha Hogan. Moycarkey were awarded a penalty with 10 minutes to go and also scored a point. The St. Patrick’s defended their one point lead for the last five minutes of the game & won out the game on a final score was: St. Patrick’s 2.5 to Moycarkey. Team line out: Jessica Strappe, Aishling Boland, Katie McCormack, Robyn Horan, Inez Noonan, Sarah Crannitch, Rachel O’Halloran, Eimear Boland (1.1) & Erin O’Brien, Rachel Butler, Eabha Hogan (0.4), Aoibheann McGrath, Kelly Burgress, Dearbhaile Morrissey (1.0) and Siadhbh Morrissey. We are now in the u12 county C semi final, against the winners of Holycross or Cahir, details not confirmed going to print.Junior TeamThe junior team travelled to the WIT new sports complex to play St. James Ramsgrange (Wexford) in a challenge game on Monday evening past. Despite the horrendous weather conditions, the St Patricks players put in a good effort against the Wexford opposition who are are intermediate team. Thanks to all the girls who travelled to Waterford for the game.On Sunday, our junior team took part in the Pat Bourke memorial tournament in Gortnahue. We played three games against teams from Gortnahue, Moycarkey and Moyne Templetuohy. Congratulations to the ladies from Moyne who won the tournament out. The club would like to thank Helena Bourke & the Bourke family for inviting us to their tournament, for their hospitality and post match BBQ.With championship starting in a few weeks time, the junior team are putting in a big effort at training sessions & also will see further challenge matches being organised for the championship. Lotto -Spin the wheelOur GAA lotto – ‘spin the wheel’ took place in the Thatch in Cloneen on Friday night last. The g40 ladies were very well represented on the night. There was 13 lucky people in for a chance of spinning the wheel. 4 of them were ladies from the g40’s who were there to represent one of their lotto buyers. Well done to Catriona Boland who represented Joanne O’Connell from Tipperary and pulled out the ‘spin the wheel’ ticket. Catriona spun the wheel and won €250 for Joanne. If your not in you cant win. You can buy your tickets from many club members or the shops and pubs in the parish. Under 10, 12 and 14 girls in Community Games:Well done to our under 10, 12 and 14 girls who participated in the community games on Sunday 21st in Templemore. They were Olga Maher, Clodagh Foley, Rachel Butler, Sarah Boland, Erin Moroney, Ailish Ryan, Eabha Hogan, Eimear Boland and Ciara Butler. On a beautifully sunny day many of our girls got through to finals and represented St.Patrick’s with pride. A special congratulations to Bob Barton who came 2nd in the 600 metre running and received a silver medal. His mum who plays for g4o’s was beaming with delight. Well done Bob.
