Under 12’s

Our under 12 girls have played two games in the county u12 league competition in recent weeks. On Thursday the 15th of August we played Slievenamon in Ballyneale. On the evening we met a stronger more expereienced team, with Slievenamon coming away winners on the evening. Team on the evening was: Dearbhla Morrissey, Avril White, Andrea Brett, Olivia Noonan, Aine Ryan, Leanne Murphy, Chloe Healy, Eimear Boland, Ciara Butler, Eabha Fitzgerald and Sarah Crannitch. The final round league match was a home game against Mullinahone played last Friday the 23rd of August. This was an enjoyable game, with the St. Patrick’s girls very much in the game to half time, however Mullinahone pulled away in the second half and won the game comfortably. Team on the evening was: Eabha Fitzgerald, Avril White, Andrea Brett, Aoife Horan, Sarah Crannitch, Olivia Noonan, Ciara Butler, Orlaith O’Hanlon and Aine Ryan, Chloe Healy, Ciara O’Halloran, Erin O’Brien and Eimear Boland. Best of luck to five u12 girls: Ciara Butler, Olivia Noonan, Aine Ryan, Avril White and Leanne Murphy who are taking part in the county under 12 development squad training programme.

Junior Team

The junior ladies team played their semi final championship game in Anner Park, Cloneen against Cahir B last Wednesday the 21st of August. St. Patrick’s ladies started the more spritely with early points from Orla Meagher and Siobhan Vaughan but despite having alot of possession for the remainder of the first half, the number of wides and missed scores heavily outweighed the total number of scores registered for the St. Patrick’s players during the first half. Score at half time St. Patrick’s 1.5 to Cahir B 0.1. The second half proved to be a much tigher affair, with Cahir registering two early goals minutes into the second half, which left only a point in the difference. Both teams gave it their all for the whole of the second half, the St. Patrick’s defence and midfield were resolutely determined throughout and worked tirelessly throughout the second half to limit the Cahir forwards scoring. The final score ended up at: St. Patrick’s 1.14 to Cahir B 2.4. The St. Patrick’s team lineout was as follows: Helen Hogan, Aileen Sugrue, Roisin Horan (capt), Maeve Brown, Lynda Nevin, Siobhan Dunne, Sarah Sugrue, Sarah Mockler & Aileen Kelly, Deirdre O’Donovan, Siobhan Vaughan, Úna O’Brien, Niamh Morrissey, Orla Meagher and Aine O’Donovan. Subs: Niamh Fitzgerald and Niamh Dunne. The team would like to thank all those who turned out in big numbers to support and cheer them on. We will now meet the Aherlow B ladies team in the junior D cup final, date and venue not tied down as yet. In preparation, a challenge match was held on Sunday past against Fethard.
