Intermediate League

Our Intermediate selection travelled to Templetuohy on Sunday last to play Moyne in the third game of the league. Conditions were superb for the game of hurling on the day and the Treacys got off to a flyer from the throw in with points from Sean Hickey, John Butler, Jody Ryan, Jamie O’Toole, Ollie Carr, Sean Kennedy and Paudie Ryan all in the first twenty minutes. A goal from Ollie Carr in the first half also settled the nerves of our men as we led 1-14 to 1-6 going in at the break. The second half proved somewhat different as Templetuohy were more prolific with their shooting however Treacys did take their chances also with most scores coming from placed balls. A brilliant Jody Ryan goal late in the second half saw Treacys overcome the home team on the day on a score line of 2-20 to 1-16 claiming our first win of the league and still leaving us with a good chance of qualification. However the main focus will be on next weekend as the first round of the championship kicks off. It is vital that all players attend training this coming week with Eamon Sweeney and adhere to the nutrition diet which has been installed also.
The team which lined out against Templetuohy was as follows: Kevin Ryan Liam Nolan Paudie Carey Tom Keane Donncha O Brien Sean Kennedy Tom Hickey Denis Stapleton Pat Hickey Jamie O’Toole Paudie Ryan Sean Hickey John Butler Ollie Carr Jody Ryan. Subs: Tom Ryan Joe Carey Paul Shanahan Ger O’Toole Seamus Butler Shane Fahy.

Community Games

You will be pleased to hear that we have recently affiliated the Kilcommon Rearcross Hollyford area to compete in the Community games 2011. We will enter many athletics events both track and field with our qualifying games taking place on May 2nd. We ask you to volunteer to help out on the day and pass this email to your contacts in the parish.

Junior Football
Management have requested that players continue to keep coming training as championship is only around the corner. The club also wishes Damien Mullins a speedy recovery after his accident abroad.

Bereavement
The club extends its deepest sympathies to the O’Toole family of Loughbrack on the recent death of Michael. The club also expresses its sympathies to the Ryan and McGrath families of Kilcommon/Hollyford on the recent passing of a true character Michael Ryan ‘Mixie’. May they both rest in peace.
