Olafs senior hurlers had a very easy win over Arklow at home on Easter Monday afternoon. We played Arklow in the leinster senior league. With the the wind and rain in our back Olafs were 1-08 to no score up at half time. Olafs missed several goal chances in that first half and only managed one goal by Declan O Dwyer. It didn’t look like it might be enough playing aginst a gale in the second half. Arklow got two early points in the second half and were putting a lot of pressure on our defense. But a great move by Olafs up the left wing found Deco and again and he rammed home his second goal. From then on it was all Olafs with Marty Devlin and John Harrington taking complete control at midfield Olafs opened up the Arklow defense and played some really good hurling. The Olafs team was made up of Senior and Junior players and some of our Junior hurlers made a big impact on the game. Junior players Rithie McDonald and Gavin Stapleton in defense and Seamus (Shimbo) Kinsella and Tommy Brown up front played very well. Shimbo got two second half goals and went close to a hat trick.
