Minor Hurling: Lorrha 2-14 Kilruane MacDonaghs 4-16 (AET)
The Lorrha Minors came agonisingly close to reaching the North Minor A Final after being defeated in extra time by Kilruane MacDonaghs in a superb game on Monday week last.
After a bad start where we trailed 3-5 to 0-2, Lorrha managed to reduce the lead to eight points by half time. An early second half goal from Sean Cleary ignited the Lorrha revival and a goal from Brendan O’Brien with ten minutes to go brought Lorrha within a point. We managed to get a point ahead going into added time but a late free forced extra time.
Despite the descending gloom, extra time was played and Kilruane got the early initiative and surged away to an eight point win.
Team: Willie Maher (0-1); Conor Haugh, Graham Houlihan, Sean O’Meara; Andrew Hoctor, Brendan Fogarty, Ciaran Duggan; Noel Lane (0-1), Ciaran Haugh (0-1 free); Cian Hogan (0-1), Patrick Maher (0-4, 2 frees), Eoin O’Meara (0-1); David Fogarty (0-1), Bob O’Brien (1-1), Sean Cleary (1-2).
