Sympathy: Lorrha GAA Club would like to sympathise with the Hughes family on the death of Greg Hughes, Portland, who died last week. Greg was an outstanding footballer at full back in his hay-day, winning an All Ireland senior medal with Offaly in 1971 as well as 4 Leinster titles. A native of Cloghan, Greg moved to Portland in the early 1970's and became involved with the club, playing and training under 21 and junior football teams, including winning a North Junior Football medal in 1975 with Lorrha. He was also club chairman in 1974 and 1975. A minutes silence was observed in his memory at Lorrha's North Championship game on Sunday as well as Offaly's Leinster Championship game with Longford. May he rest in peace.
