Lorrha GAA News for 11 August

Intermediate: Lorrha 2-11 Shannon Rovers 0-7
Lorrha booked a place in the knockout stages of the championship with what in the end was a comfortable victory over Shannon Rovers in a match played in heavy rain in Borrisokane on Saturday evening.
A goal in either half from Trevor Hogan helped Lorrha pull away after a tight opening twenty minutes when little separated the sides. See Full Match Report.
Team: Kevin Hough; Jack Maher, Tony Hogan, Tadhg Nevin; Ciaran Haugh, Stephen Hogan, Kevin Maher; Michael O’Meara, Noel Hogan; Barry Moran, Rory Coen, Patrick Maher; Ciaran Duggan, Trevor Hogan, Colm Duggan. Subs used: James Dunne, Michael Cleary, Brendan Coen, Kevin Liffey, Garrett O’Meara.
Lorrha now require a win or a draw from their final group game against Silvermines to reach the semi-final. A defeat would see Lorrha play a quarter final. The match with Silvermines should take place on the weekend of 18-19 August.

Junior A: Lorrha’s third game in the championship against Roscrea takes place in Moatfield on Saturday evening next at 7pm. A win is vital to keep our championship hopes alive.

Minor Hurling: Lorrha’s minor game with Borris-Ileigh did not take place last week and has yet to be re-fixed.

Under 16 Hurling: Lorrha took on Burgess in their latest game in the Under 16 Championship game on Bank Holiday Monday evening and emerged with a very good 4-9 to 1-11 victory.
The defeat is not enough for Lorrha to reach the semi-finals but they still have one more game to play against Nenagh Eire Og.

Under 14 Hurling: Lorrha’s Under 14 B Hurling semi-final against Templederry takes place on Tuesday evening next, 14 August. Check fixtures for venue and throw-in time.

Under 10’s: Our Under 10’s have been busy in recent weeks and have played a number of good challenge games as they start out their hurling careers.

Tickets: Tickets for this Sundays All Ireland Minor semi-final between Tipperary and Kilkenny will be distributed to club members on Thursday evening in the Clubhouse at 9pm sharp. Stand tickets are €45 while Terrace tickets are €30.

Good Luck to both Patrick Maher and Ciaran Haugh who are part of the Tipperary minor panel as they attempt to reach the All Ireland Final.

Tipperary Draw: Congratulations to Deirdre and Mary Lane who won €1000 in this months County Board draw and also to Margaret Gleeson who won €200 as a promoter. All outstanding money for this month is now due.

Summer Camp: Congratulations to all those who participated in this years Summer Camp which was a huge success. Over 50 children participated over the five days and thoroughly enjoyed the experience and expert coaching and the skills of which will be put to good use over the next couple of years.

Poker Classic: Thomas MacDonaghs Gaelic Football Club of which Lorrha are a part of are holding a fundraising Poker Classic in The Western Pass, Ardcroney on Friday, 14 September. €30 to enter and €10 buy backs.

Lotto: The numbers drawn this week were: 8 – 12 – 18 – 24. No Winner.
The Lucky Dips were: Noreen Lewis, Seamus Grey, Paul & Daniel, Bridget & Willie Harding and Eoin Mannion. The Winning Promoters were: Milnes, Kellys and The Friars Tavern.
The €7,800 Jackpot will be drawn for on Sunday night in Louis McCormacks with Team 3 in charge of the draw. Thank you for your continued support.

Old Time Dancing: Our Old Time Dancing continues in the GAA Clubhouse on Friday night to the music of Brian McDermott. Dancing 9.30pm to 12.30am.

Sympathy: Lorrha GAA Club would like to sympathise with the Sullivan, Hogan and Cleary families on the death of Michael Sullivan who died last week. May he rest in peace.
