Lorrha GAA News for 13 April

Senior Hurling: The senior suffered a disappointing 1-21 to 0-13 defeat to Templederry in the first round of the North Championship on Sunday evening. Despite leading at half time, Lorrha struggled into the breeze in the second half.
The vital second round game against Borris-Ileigh will take place this Saturday in Cloughjordan at 4.30pm. Please come and support the team.
Junior Hurling: Lorrha’s second league game is away to Moneygall on weekend 20-21 April.
Minor: Well done to the Minor Footballers on their 3-3 to 1-6 win over Borrisokane in Moatfield last Wednesday. Cormac Houlihan (2) and Ross O’Meara with the goals. Lorrha’s next game is away to Portroe on Wednesday, 17th April where a win will see Lorrha into the semi-finals.
Under 16: Lorrha lost 3-4 to 0-4 to Burgess in the first round of the U16 ‘B’ Football Championship on Easter Monday. Last Monday, Lorrha hosted Portroe in Moatfield; news next week. Next Monday, Lorrha are away to Templederry with throw-in @ 6.30pm
Under 12: Well done to the U12’s who beat Ballina 2-8 to 0-7 in their first championship game in Moatfield last Friday evening. Next Friday evening, Lorrha travel to Dolla to take on Silvermines at 6.30pm.
Senior Football: Thomas MacDonaghs divisional team begin their Senior Football Championship campaign against Fethard in Templemore this Sunday, 14 April @ 6.30pm.
Easter Camp: 32 kids took part in the Easter Camp in Moatfield last week. Thanks to Mark, Amy as well as GDA Tadhg O’Connor.
County Scene: Best of luck to Brian Hogan and the Tipperary Minor Hurlers in their Munster Championship first round game against Waterford in Waterford this Thursday.
Best of luck also to the Tipperary U21 Footballers in their Munster Final against Cork this evening (Wednesday)
Membership & Registration: The closing date for membership has now passed. Thanks to all those who have joined as members for the coming year. Your support is greatly appreciated.
Gym Membership: (All rates are inclusive of club membership rates above) Adult Players – €150 (€50+€100); Non-Playing member – €150 (€30+€120); Student – €100 (€20+€80); Family (2+2) – €200 (€80+€120); Non club member – €150. The Gathering: The Club will be hold a Gathering in the GAA Centre on Friday, 21st June as part of the Lorrha & Dorrha Heritage Festival. We will be holding a reunion of the 1983 Lorrha Intermediate Football and Under 21 hurlers, 1993 Minor hurlers and 2003 Junior ‘B’ hurlers, all of whom won North titles in those years. More details in the coming weeks but keep the date free.
Tipperary Clubs Draw: The final monthly draw took place recently so we ask all promoters to bring their monies up to date and forward them to draw coordinator Margaret Gleeson.
Sports Hall or Function Room: If anyone or any sports team would like to use of our facilities, which include a sports hall, gym or training field with floodlights or function room, contact Sean Mannion on 087-3643031.
Circuit Training: for ladies continues in the Clubhouse every Monday and Wednesday evenings from 7-8pm, plus there is a special class for Men only on Wednesday’s from 8pm. For more information contact Noel Hogan 0876176472.
Social Dancing: continues on Friday night to the music of Checkers. Dancing 9.30pm to 12.30am. Admission €8 with refreshments served.
