Lorrha GAA News for 14 February

Tipp v Cork: Well done to Patrick Maher who performed well in his National Hurling League debut last Sunday against Waterford, becoming the first Lorrha man to play in the league since Stephen Hogan in 1997.
The club are bringing our U12s, 14s and 16s to next Saturdays NHL game against Cork at Semple Stadium. All juveniles will be admitted free of charge while for every ten children in the group, one accompanying adult will also get in free. Bus will leave Rathcabbin at 5.15pm and Lorrha at 5.30pm.

Adult Hurling: Training for the new season continues on Friday and Sunday of this week. Under 21 must attend with the championship set to start in a few weeks.

Gaeltacht Scholarships: Application forms for GAA Gaeltacht Scholarships for second level students are now available from Shane Brophy. Closing date for applications is this Friday, 13 February.

Indoor Hurling: Indoor hurling continues in Lorrha Hall on Friday night at 7pm with Team 2 in charge.

SuperValu Promotion: The club has signed up for the SuperValu ‘Kids in Action’ promotion. A range of sports equipment can be obtained for the club through a collection of tokens earns when shopping in any SuperValu store. We would appreciate that those who collect the tokens would pass them onto Juvenile Secretary Niall Brophy by early March.

Scór: The North final of Senior Scór will take place in Borrisoleigh on Saturday February 28th at 8pm. As this is the 40th year of Scór, the North Scór committee would hope that all clubs would take part in at least two competitions. If anyone is interested in taking part, contact club secretary Shane Brophy.

Membership: Membership for 2009 is now available. €40 – Adult Players; €20 – Non Playing Adults; €15 – Minor/College Students and Juveniles (with match ticket entry); €10 – Juveniles (without match ticket entry). All players must have their membership paid before the start of the league and all membership is payable to club registrar Jack Maher or any committee member.

Tipp Draw: With just two draws left on the 08/09 draw, all those will outstanding payments should contact their ticket seller asap.

Merchandise: Jerseys: 2 x size 5-6 – €35; 5 x size 9-10 – €35; 2 x XL – €45; 2 x XXL – €45. Polo-shirts: 1 x XL – €15. Juvenile jacket size 10-11 is €30. Club crested shorts, 2 x 36 inch are €15 and socks are also available while stocks last. All can be purchased from Shane Brophy on 086-0515324.

All lotto draws now take place in the GAA Clubhouse on a Monday night. The draw takes place around 10pm and all are welcome to attend. Thanks for your continued support.

Old Time Dancing: Old Time Dancing continues on Friday, 2 January to the music of Footloose. Dancing 9.30pm to 12.30am.
