Lorrha GAA News for 14 February

Under 21 Football: The U21 game v Portroe was postponed last Saturday as a mark of respect to the late Cyril Hackett and will be rescheduled for a later date. This Saturday, Lorrha take on Silvermines in Moatfield at 3.00pm

Senior: The draw for the group stages of the County Senior Hurling Championship was made recently and Lorrha have been drawn with 2014 runners-up Loughmore/Castleiney, Killenaule and Eire Og Annacarty. The first round will be played on weekends 5th and 12th April.

Membership: for 2015 is now due. Rates were also confirmed with all inclusive of Gym membership: €90 – Adult player; €50 – Minor/College student; €30 – Non-playing Adult (+€70 extra for gym membership for 12 months); €20 – Juvenile (16 and under); €90 – Family (2 adults and 2 children, capped at €100 for three or more children).

Closing date for membership for all adult and juvenile players is the last day of February to be insured in training and games while the closing date for all membership is 31st March. This date will be strictly enforced and no monies will be accepted beyond this date. It is important to remember that our total number of adult members by 31st March is the number the County Board will use towards our ticket allocations for Tipperary games so it is in your interest to have membership paid by then. Membership can be paid to club registrar Louise Mannion or can also be done online at www.myclubfinances.com

Registration Night: The club will have the first of its registration nights in Moatfield on Wednesday, 11th February from 8.00-9.30pm.

National Draw: Lorrha GAA Club are selling tickets for GAA's National Draw. Tickets are €10 each with prizes ranging from trips to New York, All Ireland final tickets etc.

There will also be an in-club fund for those who buy their tickets for the draw. A prize fund of €500 has been set aside but if we sell 1000 or more tickets, the prize fund will rise to €1000. The in-club draw will take place as part of our Club Social on 28th February and by buying your National Draw ticket, it will gain you entry to the Social night.

Funds raised from the draw will go towards the cost of the Hurling Wall which is completed at the back of the stand and is another massive addition to the facilities at our club.

Club Social Night: will take place in the Clubhouse on Saturday, 28th February from 9pm. On the night we will honour Patrick Maher for winning his All Star in 2014 while Tony Reddin will be presented with honourary membership of the club. Music by Pio Ryan and members of his traditional band. Entry is by purchasing a National Draw ticket which are €10 which are available from all adult players and committee members. All players, coaches and supporters are encouraged to attend to kickstart the playing year.

Scor: Well done to our Scor na bPaisti participants who took part in the Area finals which took place in Templederry last Sunday. While they didn't progress to the North finals, they did themselves proud. Those who took part were: Ballad Group – Brandon Kennedy Ryan, Natasha Delaney, Ciara Reddin, Abbie Ryan and William Holmes; Instrumental music – Marie Claire Burke, Frances Bugler, William and Tom Holmes and Solo Singing – William Holmes.

Tipperary Club Pass: Application forms are available for the 2015 Tipperary GAA Club Pass where for a fee of €120, the pass entitles holders to entry into all adult club hurling and football championship games in the county, including divisional and county games. This great value and more information can be gotten from Shane Brophy.

Tipperary Supporters Club: Membership is now open for the 2015 Tipperary Supporters Club. Membership is €30 for adults and free for junior members. Go to www.tippsupportersclub.com

Social Dancing: continues on Friday night to the music of Pat Daly. Dancing 9.30pm to 12.30am. Social Dancing classes in the clubhouse every Monday night at 8pm.

Sympathy: Lorrha GAA Club would like to sympathise with the Hogan family on the death of Cyril Hackett, Geashill, Co. Offaly who died last week. May he rest in peace.
