Lorrha GAA News for 14 January

Adjourned AGM: took place on Tuesday night last in front of a good crowd. William Harding was elected Chairman after Seamus Deely came to the end of his five-year term. Declan O’Meara is the new Treasurer while the role of secretary has been split in two with Shane Brophy as Admin Secretary while a Hurling Secretary will be appointed in the coming weeks. Thanks to Noel Hogan and Michael Hoctor who stepped down as Players Rep and Development Officer respectively while Paddy O’Meara (Lorrha) has stepped down as a Trustee after 41 years. A new Hurling Committee has been formed and will be chaired by Ken Hogan and will focus entirely on on-field requirements of all teams from U8 to senior. Permission was also granted to discuss a possible amalgamation with Shannon Rovers at minor level for 2012.

U14 & U16: Training commences this Friday in Moatfield @ 7.00pm.

Lotto: The numbers drawn last week were: 1 – 2 – 21 – 28. No Winner.

Fundraiser: A Fundraising Car Draw will take place on St. Patrick’s Night, 17 March. Top prize is a Volkswagon Polo (kindly supplied by Al Hayes Motors, Portumna) with second and third prizes of 42” and 28” flat screen TV’s. There will also be a 28” TV as prize for the seller of the ticket for the car.
Tickets are €20 each or three for €50 and are selling well so far. Tickets can be bought from any committee member or can be bought on online on our club page on www.locallotto.ie

Membership: for 2012 is now due with the closing date being March 31st. All an encouraged to sign-up before this date as it will count towards our Tipperary ticket allocation later all those that sign up before the end of March will be entered into a draw for 2 Stand Tickets to the All Ireland Hurling Final.
Adult Player – €50; Non-Playing Adult – €30; Students & Minors – €20; Juveniles (16 & under) – €15; Family Membership (2 Adults & 2 Juveniles) – €80. Each additional child is €10 each. Membership is payable to registrar Tadhg Nevin or online on our club page on www.locallotto.ie

Tipperary Calendar: The 2012 Tipperary GAA Calendar is now available at just €10. The price also includes membership of the Friends of Tipperary Football and entry into a draw for Tipperary hurling or football Season Tickets. Calendars can be bought from Shane Brophy.

Gym: Our gym is open on Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings from 7.00 to 9.30pm. Gym cost is €3 per session for all club members and €5 per session for non members. There is also a special class on a Thursday night for those who wish to train at a slower pace from 7.00-8.00pm.

Gaelic4Girls: Meeting on Thursday, 12th January in the Clubhouse @ 8.00pm. Anyone interested in becoming involved is invited to attend.

Scrap Metal: Thanks to all who donated items so far to our Scrap Metal collection.
If anyone still has anything of any kind they want to get rid of, please contact any committee member.

Sports Hall or Function Room booking: Anyone interested in using the Function Room, Sports Hall, Gym or the Clubhouse for any event can contact Sean Mannion on 087-3643031.

Old Time Dancing: continues on Friday night to the music of Unity. Dancing 9.30pm to 12.30am.

Sympathy: Lorrha GAA Club would like to sympathise with the Tooher family, Ballyoughter on the death of Eileen Tooher who died last week. May she reast in peace.
