Lorrha GAA News for 15 May

Lotto: Our jackpot reached a record high of €18,250 this week. Thanks to everyone who is supporting our lotto, which is the clubs main source of fundraising. With the jackpot currently high, the number of players is growing by the week, particularly online on www.locallotto.ie where it is easy to play the lottery every week. Tickets are €2 each or three for €5.

Special Meeting: A special meeting of club members will take place in the GAA Clubhouse on Saturday, 22 May @ 8.45pm to discuss an important issue with regard to the current development. All members are requested to attend.

Senior: The seniors produced a better performance but still came out on the losing side against Toomevara in the championship on Sunday. Lorrha still have a slip chance of progressing but need to beat Templederry in our next game in four weeks time. Next up is a home league game against Loughmore/Castleiney on this Sunday @ 11am.

Junior: The juniors have a home game against Kildangan on this Saturday, 8 May @ 7pm where we need a win to remain in contention.

Minor: Our final group game against Portroe was deferred to last Monday night. News next week.

U14: Pride of place this week goes to our Under 14’s who showed superb skill and character to win the replay of the Under 14 ‘C’ Final against Shannon Rovers Gaels in Borrisokane last Friday. The game went to extra time where Lorrha edged out as winners on a 4-9 to 5-4 scoreline. Well done to all the players and mentors and we eagerly look forward to the county semi-final in the coming weeks.

Tipperary v Cork: Orders for family tickets for this game on Sunday, 30 May should be Shane Brophy (0876989612) by Tuesday, 18 May. Family tickets are €25 for adults and €5 for juveniles. A draw for the remainder of the tickets will take place in the clubhouse the following week. Date to be confirmed. All those whose membership is outstanding must pay Registrar Tadhg Nevin this week as only members will be issued with tickets.

Cúl Camp: This years Lorrha GAA Cúl Camp will take place on the week of 19-23 July. The camp is open to all boys and girls from age six upwards. Each participant will receive a kit which will include jersey, socks, togs and gear bag. Application forms are being distributed through the schools this week. The cost for one child is €55, two children €100 and three children €135. All enquiries to Martina Houlihan 087-9138248.

Tipp Draw. All outstanding money from 09/10 is to be paid asap. New draw date was due to have been this Friday but is likely to be deferred by a week or two. Top prize in the first draw is a Land Rover or €50,000. Entry to the draw is €100 per year or €10 per month. Application forms were in last weeks local newspapers or contact Shane Brophy (0876989612) if you wish to join.

Old Time Dancing: Old Time Dancing continues on Friday night to the music of Catherine & Images. Dancing 9.30pm to 12.30am.
