Lorrha GAA News for 18 April

Senior: Lorrha play Kildangan in the first round of the senior championship in Nenagh on Sunday, 26 April @ 1.30pm

Junior: Lorrha were beaten by a good Nenagh team in the league in Moatfield on Easter Monday. Lorrha played poorly in the first half and improved after the break but did little to affect the score. We cannot reach the semi-finals but still have one game away to Borris-Ileigh this weekend to get ready for the championship.

Minor Football: The minors beat Shannon Rovers Gaels in Moatfield by 1-7 to 2-3 on Wednesday last. They now play Borrisokane in Borrisokane on Wednesday next with a wing putting them in the semi-finals.

U16 Football: Lorrha beat Nenagh Éire Óg by 5-5 to 1-2 in the second round last week. The final group game against Portroe due to have been played on Monday was postponed.

U14 Football: Lorrha went down 7-9 to 5-2 in a high scoring game against Borris-Ileigh last week. Lorrha travel to Templederry this Wednesday (tonight). Throw-in @ 6.30pm and host Shannon Rovers Gaels on Wednesday next, 22 April @ 6.30pm.

U12 Football: Lorrha were beaten 5-5 to 0-5 by Borrisokane on Friday last. Their next game is against Ballinahinch in Moatfield on Thursday, 16 April @ 7pm.

Lá na gClub: As part of the GAA’s 125 Celebrations, Sunday, 10 May has been designated as Lá na gClub. This day will be free of club and inter-county games with each club encouraged to host events to mark the influence of the GAA in the local community.

Indoor Hurling: Indoor hurling continues in Lorrha Hall on Friday night at 7pm with Team 2 in charge.

Membership: Membership for 2009 is now available with the closing date of Sunday, 17 May. Only fully paid up members get access to tickets to the Munster Championship game v Cork on 31 May. €40 – Adult Players; €20 – Non Playing Adults; €15 – Minor/College Students and Juveniles (with match ticket entry); €10 – Juveniles (without match ticket entry). All players must have their membership paid before the start of the league and all membership is payable to club registrar Jack Maher or any committee member.

Golf Classic: A date for your diary; our Golf Classic takes place again in Birr Golf Club on Friday, 19 June. More details in the coming weeks.

Lotto: The numbers drawn this week were: 1 – 5 – 11 – 23. No Winner.

Old Time Dancing: Old Time Dancing resumes on Friday night to the music of Country Pride. Dancing 9.30pm to 12.30am.

Sympathy: Lorrha GAA Club would like to sympathise with the Carroll family, Ballyea on the death of Cecilia Carroll who died last week. May she rest in peace.
The club also would like to sympathise with the Dolan family on the death of Paddy Dolan who died last week. May he rest in peace.
