Lorrha GAA News for 19 June

Lotto: Our jackpot reached a record high of €18,950 this week. Thanks to everyone who is supporting our lotto, which is the clubs main source of fundraising. With the jackpot currently high, the number of players is growing by the week, particularly online on www.locallotto.ie where it is easy to play the lottery every week. Tickets are €2 each or three for €5.  

 

Senior: The seniors ended their North Championship campaign with a narrow 1-17 to 3-10 defeat to Borris-Ileigh on Saturday. See Match Report. It was another case of what might have been but there is plenty to build on for the O’Riain Cup. We have one final game in the senior league away to Kildangan in the coming weeks in preparation for the O’Riain Cup.  

 

Junior: The Junior’s got their championship campaign off to a super start with a 3-16 to 1-7 win over Templederry in Borrisokane on Sunday evening. Next up is Burgess in 2-3 weeks.

 

U21: The U21 ‘A’ Hurling quarter final against Templederry is provisionally fixed for the 30 June. All players are to attend training in preparation for the game.

 

Minor: The minor football semi-final against Portroe will take place on 23-24 June. The minor hurling championship is set to begin the following week.

 

U14 Football: Hard Luck to the U14 footballers who lost the county ‘C’ Final to Fethard in Templemore on Saturday. See Match Report.

 

U14 Hurling: The U14’s lost 6-6 to 0-9 to Portroe in the championship last week. Next up is Shannon Rovers Gaels in Ballinderry next Wednesday, 23 June.

 

U12: The Under 12’s will play Silvermines or Templederry this Friday. Check north Bord fixtures.

 

Golf Classic: The Lorrha GAA Golf Classic will take place in Birr Golf Club on Friday, 25 June. A team of 4 is €200 and includes a meal afterwards. Hole sponsorships are €100. Time sheet is filling up so book your time by contacting Michael Liffey (087-2578370) or Tony Coen (087-6219639). 

 

Cúl Camp: This years Lorrha GAA Cúl Camp will take place on the week of 19-23 July. The camp is open to all boys and girls from age six upwards. Each participant will receive a kit which will include jersey, socks, togs and gear bag. Application forms are being distributed through the schools this week. The cost for one child is €55, two children €100 and three children €135. All enquiries to Martina Houlihan 087-9138248.

 

Old Time Dancing: Old Time Dancing continues on Friday night to the music of Frank Nelson. Dancing 9.30pm to 12.30am.

 

Sympathy: Lorrha GAA Club would like to sympathise with the Bourke family on the death of Dinah McGahey nee Bourke who died last week. May she rest in peace.
