Lorrha GAA News for 19 September

Senior: Well done to our seniors who produced a superb performance on Sunday afternoon to beat Kildangan in the semi-final of the Seamus O’Riain Cup. A first half goal by Ciaran Duggan helped us to a 1-17 to 0-16 victory. See Match Report.
Lorrha will play Kilruane MacDonaghs in the final but first of all, we are back in the county championship proper this weekend when we play Borris-Ileigh in Nenagh on Sunday @ 5.30pm. Best of Luck to the players and mentors and are ask for a big Lorrha support to help us reach the county quarter finals.

U21: The replay against Kildangan will take place on the weekend of 26-27 September at the earliest.

U16: Well done to our Under 16’s who reached the North Final following a superb extra time win over Kildangan Gaels in a gripping semi-final on Saturday afternoon. The teams were tied at 3-14 each at the end of normal time but Lorrha surged ahead in extra time to win 4-20 to 3-16.
In a repeat of last years Under 14 Final, Ballina will be our opponents in the final this weekend. Check Bord na nOg fixtures for date, time and venue. Best of Luck to the players and mentors and a big Lorrha support is called for.

U8: The Under 8’s finished the year on a very high note on Friday evening last with a very successful confined blitz. Beforehand, a coaching session with Lorrha seniors Patrick & Kevin Maher and Brendan Fogarty. Afterwards the three lads refereed all games and presented medals and goodies to all the boys and girls on behalf of the mentors. Many thanks to all the boys and girls for their attention and attendance during the year; to the adult hurlers who gave coaching sessions and to the clubs whom we played practice games with. To mentors Michelle, Ruth, Louise, Kevin and Hubert whom since last January have given freely of their time. Your efforts will help create the future success of Lorrha hurling and camogie.

Football: Thomas MacDonaghs football club, of which Lorrha are a member take on Fr. John Kenyons in the North Tipp Senior Football Final this Thursday evening in Borrisoleigh @ 8pm.

Tipperary Draw: Congratulations to Fergus & Rita O’Gorman, Annagh who won €200 in last Friday’s weekly County Board Draw. As well as the monthly draw, there is a weekly jackpot of €5000. You can still enter by contacting club draw coordinator Margaret Gleeson.

Lotto: All lotto draws take place in the GAA Clubhouse on Monday night. The draw takes place at 10pm and all are welcome to attend. Thank you for your continued support.

Old Time Dancing: Old Time Dancing resumes on Friday night to the music of Mando & Shandy. Dancing 9.30pm to 12.30am.
