Lorrha GAA News for 20 June

Golf Classic: The date of our Golf Classic in Birr Golf Club has been deferred by two weeks to Friday, 10 July. What better way to start Munster Final weekend than with a round of golf. Teams of 4 are €220 while hole sponsorships are €100 each. Timesheets are with Michael Liffey 087-2578370 or Tony Coen 087-6219639.

Senior: Our League semi-final against Kilruane failed to take place on Sunday last. Our next game is against Roscrea in the senior championship on Sunday, 28 June.

Junior: The juniors suffered another heavy defeat in the championship on Friday evening to Borris-Ileigh. Our next game is against Silvermines in two weeks time.

Minor: The minors get their championship underway against Shannon Rovers Gaels in Ballinderry on Thursday, 2 July.

Feile: Lorrha are taking part in the Féile na nGael All Ireland hurling tournament being hosted by Offaly and Laois. Due to our proximity to the Offaly border, we are also a host club and we will be welcoming the mentors and players of Mount Leinster Rangers from Carlow this Friday and the teams will meet in the first round this Friday in Moatfield @ 3pm. They will be staying in the parish for two nights. Both sides will travel to Rathdowney on Saturday to take on the home side plus Ardfert from Kerry. Best of luck to Lorrha.

VHI Cul Camps: The Lorrha GAA VHI Cul Camp takes place this year between 20-24 July.

U14: Lorrha got the defence of the U14 ‘B’ title off to the best possible start with a 5-12 to 3-5 win over Silvermines in Moatfield last week. Next game is away to Templederry.

U12: Our Under 12’s were defeated by Borrisokane on Friday evening last.

Tipp v Clare: Best of Luck to Patrick Maher and the Tipperary senior team in this Sundays Munster semi-final against Clare.

Courses: Last year, the club purchased a defibrillator for use in emergency situations and anyone interested in taking part in a course on how to use it can contact William Harding on 086-8062341. Anyone interested in taking a physio/masseurs course can also call William Harding for further details.

Lotto: The numbers drawn on 8 June were: 11 – 18 – 21 – 25. No Winner.
