Lorrha GAA News for 22 May

November 8, 2018

Special Meeting: A special meeting of club members will take place in the GAA Clubhouse on Saturday, 22 May @ 8.45pm to discuss an important issue with regard to the current development. All members are requested to attend.

Lotto: Our jackpot reached a record high of €18,500 this week. Thanks to everyone who is supporting our lotto, which is the clubs main source of fundraising. With the jackpot currently high, the number of players is growing by the week, particularly online on www.locallotto.ie where it is easy to play the lottery every week. Tickets are €2 each or three for €5.

Senior: A depleted senior team produced a very disappointing display in the latest round of the league last Sunday when Loughmore-Castleiney won in Moatfield on a scoreline of 5-20 to 1-13. Our next league game is away to J.K. Brackens in Templemore on Tuesday next, 25 May @ 7.30pm.

Junior: The juniors lost to Kildangan by 2-10 to 0-9 in Moatfield on Saturday evening. We are now out of contention for the league but still have one game to play against Burgess this Thursday in Moatfield @ 7.30pm.

Minor: The minor footballers qualified for the semi-final of the ‘B’ championship with a 2-6 to 1-9 draw against Portroe last Monday. The result means the sides will meet again in the semi final which is provisionally fixed for 30 June, after the exams.

U14: Pride of place this week goes to our Under 14’s who showed superb skill and character to win the replay of the Under 14 ‘C’ Final against Shannon Rovers Gaels in Borrisokane last Friday. The game went to extra time where Lorrha edged out as winners on a 4-9 to 5-4 scoreline. Well done to all the players and mentors and we eagerly look forward to the county semi-final in the coming weeks.

U12: The U12’s begin their ‘C’ hurling championship campaign this Friday against Ballinahinch in Shallee @ 7pm.

Tipperary v Cork: Orders for family tickets for this game on Sunday, 30 May should be Shane Brophy (0876989612) by Wednesday, 19 May. Family tickets are €25 for adults and €5 for juveniles. A draw for the remainder of the tickets will take place in the clubhouse on Wednesday, 26 May @ 9pm. All those whose membership is outstanding must pay Registrar Tadhg Nevin this week as only members will be issued with tickets.

Cúl Camp: This years Lorrha GAA Cúl Camp will take place on the week of 19-23 July. The camp is open to all boys and girls from age six upwards.
