Lorrha GAA News for 23 April

Senior: Our senior hurlers suffered a disappointing 1-15 to 0-16 defeat to Portroe in the opening round of the County Championship in Cloughjordan on Sunday evening. See match report. Next Sunday, 24th April, Lorrha will play Clonoulty/Rossmore in round 2 in Dolla at 3.30pm, needing a win to stay in the hunt for the knockout stages.

Junior: Our next game in the North League is at home to Toomevara in Moatfield this Saturday, 23rd April at 6pm.

Under 16: Lorrha Rovers Gaels played Kilruane MacDonaghs in Ballinderry last Thursday and recorded another impressive win to remain unbeaten. Last Monday evening, they played Inane Rovers in Moatfield; news next week.

Under 14: Lorrha Rovers Gaels easily defeated Newport in Ballinderry last Wednesday in their second game. This evening (Wednesday) they play Portroe in Ballinderry @ 6.30pm.

Under 12: The U12's lost to Templederry in the 'B' Football quarter final last Friday. This ends their football campaign as attention turns to the hurling championship which begins next month.

Feile: Lorrha will be hosting a team from Antrim as part of Feile na nGael which is being held in Tipperary & Waterford this year from June 17th-19th.

Tipperary Clubs Draw: for 2015-2016 has now concluded. All promoters and subscribers are asked to bring your accounts up to date and contact Margaret Gleeson. The 2016-2017 draw will get underway in late May and if you want to join, contact any club officer.

Lorrha CountryFest 2016: Tickets are on sale for Lorrha CountryFest at Moatfield which takes place on Sunday, 17th July from 12 noon to 7pm. Line-up includes Mike Denver, Robert Mizzell, Louise Morrissey, The Conquerors, Johnny Brady, Pete Kennedy, Sean Slattery & The Connections as well as local band Tradstone. A day not to be missed! Social Dancing: on Friday night to the music of Ciaran Rosney. Dancing 9.30pm to 12.30am.

Sympathy: Lorrha GAA Club would like to sympathise with the Slattery family, Kilruane on the passing of Fr. John Slattery, former curate in Lorrha, who passed away recently. May he rest in peace.
