Lorrha GAA News for 24 February

Senior: Lorrha will begin their County League Division 2 campaign on weekend 3-4 March. Lorrha have been grouped with Kilruane MacDonaghs, Holycross/Ballycahill, JK Brackens, Burgess and Newport.

Lorrha's North Championship first round game with Kilruane MacDonaghs has been fixed for Easter Sunday, 1st April at 1.30pm in Nenagh, as part of a double-header with Toomevara v Roscrea.

Minor: Lorrha Rovers Gaels have been drawn away to Inane Rovers in the semi-final of the North Minor 'A' Football Championship. This game will be played over weekend 3-4 March.

Under 14: Lorrha were knocked out of the North Feile Peil 'B' at the semi-final stage last Saturday following a 4-7 to 0-1 defeat away to Newport. The previous week, Lorrha defeated Kiladangan in the quarter final. The North Football Championship will begin on 28th March.

Lorrha play Kiladangan next Monday, 26th February in the Feile 'B' Hurling quarter final in Puckane at 6.30pm

Membership: for 2018 is now due. €90 – Adult player; €50 – Minor/College student; €30 – Non-playing Adult (+€70 extra for gym membership); €20 – Juvenile (16 & under); €90 – Family (2 adults & 2 children, capped at €100 for three or more children).

Closing date for all adult and juvenile players is 28th February while the closing date for all membership is 31st March. It is important to remember that our total number of adult members by 31st March is the number the County Board will use towards our ticket allocations for Tipperary games so it is in your interest to have membership paid by then. Membership can be paid to registrar Louise Mannion or online at www.locallotto.ie.

A membership registration night will take place in Moatfield on Thursday 1st March from 8-9pm.

Poker Classic: The annual Lorrha GAA Poker Classic takes place in the GAA Centre on Saturday 10th March at 9.00pm. Entry free is €20 with €1500 pro rata prize money.

First Aid Course: The club have organised a First Aid Course on Thursday 15th March in the GAA Centre. We need 12 people to take part. Cost €10 per head. Anyone interested to contact Louise Mannion 0876598387.

Healthy Club Project: The club is delighted to announce that it has been chosen as one of 92 clubs nationally to take part in phase 3 of the GAA's Healthy Club project. In the coming year, we will be planning events to promote healthy living in the club and community.

Street Lighting: The club would like to thank Councillor Michael O'Meara and Tipperary County Council for erecting the street lighting at Moatfield which were turned on last week. The lighting goes a long way to improving public safety at the venue all year round.

Third Level: Hard luck to Patrick Maher who was on the Dublin IT panel who were defeated in the Fitzgibbon Cup semi-final last week by DCU. Best of luck to Brian Hogan who is part of the NUI Maynooth panel who are in the Ryan Cup semi-finals this weekend.

Tipperary: Congratulations to Eoin McIntyre on his call-up to the Tipperary senior hurling panel, joining Brian Hogan and Patrick Maher, the latter scoring 1-2 in Tipperary's league win over Wexford last Saturday.

Well done also to Clodagh McIntyre who started at corner forward for the Tipperary minor camogie team in their All Ireland Championship round 1 win over Offaly on Sunday.
